If you're on ADT you might experience slightly shorter breath due to lower RBC's and slight anemia, but otherwise should be ok. Also, might be careful if you're on a reef, saltwater cuts could be slow to heal with low lymphocytes. I used to snorkel down in Belize off Ambergais Cay for two hour sessions, and it was quite a workout.

Hell yes. When I through chemo ( Was in my mid 60's) I ran four days a week, 5 miles per run in 80 degree (Fahrenheit ) heat with the sun melting me to the asphalt. Don't let this pain the ass cancer stop you from doing whatever you want. After nearly six year of being stage four with mets to bones, I'm slower and weaker but I refuse to give in.

With stage 4 leaking would not be a problem with a wet suit!!!

Once I got free from kidney tubes stents and a foley we went to see my buddy on Kauai . It was kind of a miracle I escaped that condition . We went to celebrate my co-birthday with our adult daughter ,she turned 21 ...I went into Hanalei bay at sunset . Perfect calm.I floated on my back . So peaceful that I closed my eyes and almost fell asleep . I’d open my eye and peer up at the mighty Nepali cliffs . I felt I was in heaven . All of the pain forgotten , it was almost a religious experience. If I had died the next I would have died happy . That was 2017 .....I ve had many more heaven like days since ...I say Aloha ! It will do you wonders ... with limited tourism over there right now it should be much nicer with less people . ✈️🐟🌊🌊🌊.......the ahi poke alone is worth the trip ...

Good luck! I went snorkeling in Hawaii last year while doing chemo. It's all good except I would get exhausted towards the end. Keep that in mind. Hopefully I'll do it again next year. Snorkeling in the tub because of Corona virus isn't as interesting LOL.

Snorkeling and chemo sounds like a new treatment...I hear it reduces side effects especially dry skin!

Anything is possible with prostate cancer. Break out you bucket list! Your best mental health will result from being normal and if an activity gives that back to you for a hour, day, or week it was well worth it. Enjoy your dive!

Last year I had one of those cheesy water goggles that had the snorkel attached. Found it in the garage left over from when my daughters were teens. I played around with it in the jacuzzi , I’m out there all the time thanks to Covid and PCa .....anyway I have one of those battery powered fish that float just below the surface that swims all around. Probably intended for a bathtub ( about 20 rubber duckies too ) . I was watching the fish underwater. The chemicals in the water caused both the fish and googles fall apart. So, snorkeling is possible with PCa. You can float in the jacuzzi with the snorkel- mask with your head underwater and it’s almost like an immersion tank.... its kewl unless the jets kick on. To the person that asked me wtf what this has to do with snorkeling in someplace like Hawaii mentioned ....the point is that all of us would love to go snorkeling , and in Hawaii if we could or were able , but if not able to go serious snorkeling, there is still other ways for croakers to have fun with a snorkel, even in winter. “ A mans got to know his limitations “ .CE .

Just say’in

Absolutely yes and, rather than problematic or harmful, it will be good for you. Get equipment from Snorkel Bob's if you are on a budget.

Absolutely !! Go for it. Last February, we went on a 9 day boat trip in Raja Ampat (Indonesia) that was nothing but snorkelling 2-3 times / day just before COVID struck. It was perfectly fine. Had to give up on the idea of a trip to snorkel with whales in Tonga which we would have done except for this blasted virus. Do all the things you want to do. Live life to your capacity and enjoy it all. Cheers

Absolutely yes, be a snorkeler and discover the wonders of the shallow underwater world. Definitely get your own wetsuit, even tropical warm waters will take your heat and energy away. A 3/2 mm full suit at minimum. But if you are vulnerable to getting cold then a 4/3 suit will be more comfy and give more flotation so you can just relax more. A flotation vest can help too if you stay at the surface. I use one for snorkeling even though I am a strong ocean swimmer, kookie surfer and decent Kiteboarder. No shame.

Several good online wetsuit sellers have great options, reviews and pricing. The good ones will ship you a few choices and sizes to try on and return the rest. Do that as the fit and comfort varies widely. Also get your own good quality mask snorkel and fins. Not kid’s toys or gimmicks. Open heel dons are best and wear 1-2 mm neoprene booties with them for foot protection comfort and warmth.

The go be a snorkeler! For amazing inspiration watch the Netflix movie “My Octopus Teacher “. But don’t try to copy his style! 🐟🐠🐡🦀🐙🐋🏊🏼🏄🏼‍♂️🏖👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Snorkeled daily on Galapagos tour 1.5 years ago. Was in relatively poor shape on land due to some joint pain and fatigue, but did fine in the water. Was on Zytiga and Prednisone at the time.
