Stopping Prednisone

My MO has me weening down my prednisone intake since ending my docetaxel regimen. I was on 10 mg per day. I did a week already at 5 mg per day. I am noticing mild pain in my bones already. I am stage 4 metastatic. I have extensive mets. I had no side effects from the prednisone. Was the prednisone possibly lowering my inflammation and keeping the pain at bay? I am still doing monthly firmagon injections.

Have you tried xofigo? It might be a good option.

Could be inflammation causing joint pain. That happens to me periodically.

You could try an NSAID such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen and see what happens. If it is inflammation causing the pain, it should improve with an NSAID.

It was almost certainly doing that. Maybe try Celebrex instead (especially if you are taking bone strengthening medicine.

I too have increased pain while coming off prednisone (for the 2nd time). It does mask pain and so when coming down pain shows up. Been on a regimen pf naproxen and Tylenol which has helped a bunch. 1 220 mg Naproxen every 12 hours, 2 325 mg tylenol evey 6. My symptom care team has oxycodine as a backup should I have more severe or breakout pain,,but I have yet to require it. Also have some CBD lotion that calms the area. Good luck with your pain management. I also started Xofigo last Friday. Only side effects have been a bit more fatigue and a tiny bit of nausea. Also easily controlled.
