Pain relief finally!

Break60 profile image
45 Replies

I had tried everything to stop pain in groin and thighs then the owner of my gym who is a vegan and health nut said he puts a teaspoon of cirumin and pepper on his food and it relieves pain. Then I saw an ad for pills which comprised cirumin, Pepperine and COQ10 .

I take two a day with a meal and my pain is gone! Unbelievable!

Every morning I take the Smarter brand super circunmin soft gels 95% , and the super absorbent Dr’s Best CoQ10 with BioPerine soft gels, along with all the 11 other supplements highly recommended here on the group ... including the expensive peach pectin. None of the whole collection has any impact on my pain or discomfort an any way ...zilch ...nada. In fact I’d be lying if I said I could say any of that did anything at all. Still ... I take it religiously....every day ...on the outward hope it’s doing some microscopic something for me ... that some of the guys here are right and maybe it does a little bit and every little bit helps. I am in remission ( thanks to agonizing awful ADT ) and hopefully this stuff is helping me stay there.... the docs caught me late and the damage to “ all “ the joints in my body was already done, so I have a lot of “ discomfort “ ( PAIN ) .... lots ... .... Vicodin and dilaudid both work especially well for my pain .... I eat a lot of them off and on.

Good for you for finding pain relief with OTC dietary supplements, stick with what works ... you can’t beat that.

💪💪💪👍👍👍🦋🌸🌻🌼❤️

The ever present disclaimer : absolutely never start a regimen of any supplement before you consult your medical support team ... don’t even think about putting anything into your mouth until you do that first. You have trusted these guys with your life .. respect that and yourself and keep them in the loop.

Just say’in

I’m aware of bioperene being added to curcumin to increase bioavailability. What does CoQ10 do?

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toCheerr

CoQ10 is a powerful antioxidant that your body produces naturally ... as you age your body produces less of it. CoQ10 is associated with muscle strength, vitality and performance in older adults , especially heart health as I understand it. One thing it does for sure is , like most supplements, is drain your wallet of excess cash buildup. It will take a wallet wrinkled by cash and give it a smooth supple look.

Just say’in 😂😂😂😂

Dang that Lupron fog anyway ...... yayahahahaya. It’s pretty kewl how much we can blame on that and get away with . I’ve got my share I guess , and it can be very awkward at times ....but still it can be liberating as well . From my experience, you have to be careful how much you push the Lupron fog thing tho ... too much and people around you might start talking about supervision yayahahahaya yayahahahaya. Supervise this ( @#$% ) a guy just can’t have any “ wink wink nudge nudge “ fun anymore , and blame it on medications .... What’s up with that ???

My pain wasn’t from Lupron. I stopped taking it 17 months ago. Switched to estradiol patches.

i just started the Estradiol patches how many are you using to maintain the testosterone and PSA suppression if you don't mind my asking

Break60 profile image
Break60 in reply tolancer82801

Sure. I started with four .1mg patches per week and switched to three per week after my T went down so low. See my profile which shows my time line. I use Sandoz patches.

lancer82801 profile image
lancer82801 in reply toBreak60

I am using 4 .1mg every three days. I was worried about the delivery consistancy with the weekly patches. If they are working for you I will try them as soon as I get my T down.

Another question who is Rx them to you? I have found the oncologist I have talked to are not interested in deviating from the "Standard of Care"

Break60 profile image
Break60 in reply tolancer82801

My urologist prescribed them after I showed him the PATCH trial in UK. He had once used DES ( oral estrogen) until it showed cardio effects then stopped. The patches don’t show any worse cardio than Lupron and are much better in terms of osteoporosis. Plus other SEs are gone except man boobs.

I used the small twice weekly patches like you at first then when Sandoz came out with small clear weekly patches I switched to them for convenience.

Can you gentlemen find Oestradiol in The States?

Break60 profile image
Break60 in reply toE2-Guy

Hi Ron

I get my patches by Sandoz at CVS with no problem. I haven’t tried to find the gel which you use because I like the controlled dosage which patches confer. But I must admit that changing them is a bit of a pain because of the need to scrape off the adhesive residue when patches are removed. My gut looks a bit like I was attached by an octopus!

E2-Guy profile image
E2-Guy in reply toBreak60

I just can't understand why the gel is not readily available in The States since it is so easy to use? Zero skin irritation, low cost, invisible and never falls off. I think that I'm going to try shipping a bunch of it to my daughter in Illinois. I had sent 24 tubes a few months ago with DHL...shipping was $130.

lancer82801 profile image
lancer82801 in reply toE2-Guy

Follow the money Lupron costs more than $2000 per injection and even the patches are somewhere around $10.00 each.

As you say the shipping from there is pretty steep but nothing like Lupron

lancer82801 profile image
lancer82801 in reply toE2-Guy

The patches are available if you can find someone to Rx them to you

Hey Break60!

Curcumin has long been known to prevent inflammation. The Indians have been using it since antiquity. Curcumin is hard for the body to absorb. That is why black pepper is also added to the formula you are taking.

TWINLAB made a supplement called "Joint Fuel". The company went through a couple ownership changes rather quickly and some of the supplements they made were discontinued as I believe the Joint Fuel was. It had 500 mg. of C, 400 IU of E, 15 mg of zinc, 99 mcg of selenium, 750 mg of glucosamine, 50 mg of chondroitin, 351 mg of turmeric root extract--(curcumin), 50 mg of quercetin and 100 mg of bromelain per 3 capsules. The directions were to take three capsules 2X a day. Smart! Keep the nutrients in the blood by spacing them out.

You noticed that the last ingredient, bromelain is from the pineapple and is used to promote digestion and according to WEBMD

Bromelain: Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Dosage, and ...

webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingre...

Overview Information

Bromelain is a group of enzymes found in pineapple juice and in the pineapple stem. People use it as a medicine.

Bromelain is used for pain, muscle soreness, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.

How does it work?

Bromelain seems to cause the body to produce substances that fight pain and swelling (inflammation).

Bromelain also contains chemicals that interfere with the growth of tumor cells and slow blood clotting.

That last line!

Not all curcumin products are equal. Studies have found that back adding some of the tumerone oils removed when the curcumin is extracted from the turmeric root to curcumin supplements enhances absorption. I would think that some black seed oil would help. Black seed oil also fights inflammation.

It is interesting about the black pepper. I first heard of this from a friend in the early 80's. He had read a study where it was found that those who doused their eggs liberally with black pepper at breakfast benefited more from the nutrition because of greater absorption. All the way back then!

Ginger is closely related to the turmeric root and magnifies the benefits that taking curcumin has--synergy.

It is always a goal to eliminate inflammation if possible. The National Cancer Institute--

Risk Factors: Chronic Inflammation - National Cancer Institute

cancer.gov/.../risk/chronic...

Chronic inflammation may be caused by infections that don’t go away, abnormal immune reactions to normal tissues, or conditions such as obesity. Over time, chronic inflammation can cause DNA damage and lead to cancer.

The CoQ10? Are you taking a statin? Everyone taking a statin should be supplementing with CoQ10.

savingdaddy profile image

That’s great! How long did it take for you to feel relief once you started taking 2 a day? Kimberly

Break60 profile image
Break60 in reply tosavingdaddy

Less than a week. I had CT scans, epidurals In spine, pt, then my pt guy tells me what he did for pain and instead of putting pepper and circumin on my food I bought these pills. Viola!

rscic profile image
rscic

circumin is one of those supplements which can interfere with PSA readings. If circumin can be suspended a few days before a blood test that would be helpful.

Break60 profile image
Break60 in reply torscic

Interesting. Since I get <.1 readings I’d better check with my urologist.

rscic profile image
rscic in reply toBreak60

So far, the list of substances that may interfere with PSA tests, creating false negatives, includes

----biotin,

----curcumin,

----genistein,

----EGCG,

----resveratrol,

----capsaicin,

----saw palmetto,

----pygeum,

----beta-sitosterol, and

----statins (see this link).

The false negative PSA readings may fool the patient and his physician (who may not be aware of the patient's supplement use) into believing that the cancer is under more control than it really is. Patients who use any complementary therapies are twice as likely to die of their cancer (see this link).
