Had immune cells harvested, sent to lab, told insufficient cells collected. This was first treatment. Any experience with rate of cell collection failure? The reasons? The likelihood of repeat failure. Can't get answer from doctors office, just told repeat the processes. Am taking 10 mg prednisone.
Another factor, blood pressure spikes twice over 200, was OK after completed. Don't know hoe common blood pressure spike is.

Hi Bigpipe, the same happened to me on the second collection. Dendreon said it may have been due to dehydration but who knows. I was glad they have a process that ensures we are getting the best treatment. I know it really sucks to do an extra collection though. It’s not fun sitting with tubes in your arms for 3 hours!
This happened to my friend. He didn't produce enough dendritic cells. They waited a month before his next leukapheresis, which was OK. He also had a blood pressure spike, which seemed to be a bad reaction to the Benadryl. They switched him to Claritin, and he was fine.
This happened to me on the first attempt. Doctor thought it may have been too soon after chemo and that my body might not have completely recovered. I waited six weeks and everything was fine. Three treatments ending in May of 2019. I am still here.
