Men that are on chemo, how many times did you get infections or was hospitalized?
Chemo: Men that are on chemo, how many... - Advanced Prostate...
Chemo
Did 6 cycles of Docetaxel. No infections or hospitalizations..
Went in once with a high temperature, but looks like my thermometer was off since I was less than the limit of 100.4 when I got there. They sent me home after checking me out.
My Husband had no issues at all
Breezed right through it. Had no ill effects on me at all.
I think it's especially important to have prophylactic Neulasta during the pandemic.
I had 6 rounds of Docetaxel and was hospitalized the first round. I had a temp and they kept me in overnight.
I was already quite poorly as my bone marrow had shut down, and all my blood counts were very low, I needed regular blood transfusions and bone infusions for first 3 months. All things considered I got through it with little drama. Great people caring for me.
My husband has had 12 rounds of docetaxel, he has been in the hospital twice and had six infections. He hates going to the er or hospital. The doctor said there is a 10%-30% of getting another infection, we just don't know what to do???
Tell him he's got lots of compay... We all hate going to the E.R. (and of course hospitals and their jello)... 10% to 30% chance is low..... consider himself lucky....

He is tired, no QOL. Just making up his mind to Quit treatment.
I understand... We all though our golden years would be golden not brass...I wish I could convince him to fight on,,,When I feel like giving up I think of all those young soldiers who died in WWII who didn't have an option. That gives me the strength to keep hope alive. Hopefully he can withstand the thought of giving up. Remember God is on your side...

He is a warrior, he had blood clots to his lungs, m.a.i., Pneumonia twice, MRSA, and sepsis. He is not giving up, he is putting it in God's hands now. And a body can only take so much.
Short answer 0
10 cycles of Docetaxel and no major issues.
6 cycles of Cabizataxel and one visit to ER, home after 5 hours.
I had 10 rounds of Docetaxel.
I was hospitalized once towards the end with a high fever and shakes. And at least one other unattributed fever that was treated with antibiotics.
I honestly felt I made through it easy.
However I did have lots and lots of neutropenia issues. I would get a shot of nuelesta two or three days in a row after each chemo round. That was bad until a random nurse told me to take allergy meds on days I got shots. That fixed any issues I got from so many shots.
Overall chemo was so much easier than I imagined.
6 rounds of taxotere, on a outpatient basis. With a bone shot the following day. Didn’t like the bone shot. Made me weak and sick.
