I'd call that hitting it out of the park !

Very encouraging results. Cure might still be in the cards for you.

I don't want to piss on your parade, but, I was there a few years ago (similar prognosis and treatment).

I've had a BCR - I went on an ADT holiday for nearly 2 years AFTER I remained undetectable for over 12 months.

Please keep monitoring your condition regularly (PSA tests).

Statistically, about 50% of us will have a recurrence, assuming you were high risk, regional spread, G9 etc .... because some CTC cells escaped - there may be some smaller nodes that could grow over time and show up in the latter scans (more sensitive )that weren't detected the first time.

Being aware that there could be a recurrence should help you maintain a healthy lifestyle, which could be of great benefit to your overall well being.

CONGRATS - I hope you stay on the good side of the stats ....

I am curious where you found the date that 50% have a recurrence? Just wanting to look at the data?

Didn’t come from me

It's an often quoted statistic that is generally put out there by medical professionals.

I've read it in popular blogs (like T_As) and have seen it repeated on this site on numerous occasions.

The number(s) based on RP and RT patients post primary treatment, within a 2 - 3 year time frame.

It has formed the basis of some clinical trails as a hypothesis.

I'm sure some of the 'senior' posters will echo this response. I wish I was wrong - but I certainly wouldn't make it up ....

This statistic typically refers to those with a higher Gleason number and a good proportion comes from the group who underwent RP - when 'something' was missed / left behind - typically not from the prostate itself, but from the seminal vessels, margins - the close proximity stuff OR for those who have a regional / local spread (think lymph nodes) where the nodes were too small to detect with the less sensitive 'standard' scans

Assuming you are posting in the right forum (there's another group for NOT advanced PCa) I stand by my stats.

For those who are not advanced, the stat, typically does NOT apply to them.

NEW (added section - after my initial post - out of curiosity)

NB: I just looked at your 'bio' - dating back to 2014 - you started as a G7, yet, you had a recurrence - some G7s end up in these stats - you became one of them ....

That doesn't mean you can't get good results from further treatment - the question I might ask myself - what is the status / count of CTCs in my circulatory system(s) ?

For example, I'll give you a reference to check to see if you would want to pursue that - at a cost out of YOUR pocket - see RGCC Group (International in scope Switzerland / Greece) - a third party testing lab / org - but they aren't the only ones - they have a presence in Texas - some 'others' exist in the USA that offer the same form of testing.

I went thru the protocol for $ 4K, about 3 years ago - my overall 'risk factor' was 50%.

Turns out, they were correct. You get an extensive printed report that you can consult, now and in the future.

A baseline is established to see where you started from' - you can also monitor any 'success' you've had by further annual tests that run around $1 K.

It might offer some peace of mind - or it might drive you crazy because it never seems to be resolved.

I suspect most of us would rather live day to day instead of the constant wondering.

Wishing you well on your journey ....
