3rd bone scan, cat scan and my seven mets are under control, no new. My pelvic lymph node tumor is reduced. No changes from last Nov. PSA .1.
Question is: What should I expect from here. I am 82 and the side effects of ADT are beginning to take a toll. My energy level is down 40%, my muscles ache and back pain is terrible. The good part is I dont have to worry about an erection when I pee, i can hit my toes any time so i stand close to the stool.
I am optimistic, My martinis taste better each evening and I am alive and fighting, everyday for better results.๐ธ๐ธ๐ค

Hang in there....it only gets worse. I have become a huge fan of Turner classic movies. Do what you can and try and find a solution for your pain. Good luck.
That was the protocol before lupron injections, I was told. Then Zytiga was added.๐ธ๐ธ๐ค
It Is one hec of a path that we are on. Iโve had five years of no energy and lethargy. But we just need to find the good in life , whereEver we can ?? Make mine a dirty martini with triple olivesโ๏ธ..
My husband (77) is likely having a second recurrence. Will find out tomorrow. Reading your comments about enjoying those martinis makes me so want to have one -- after not having any alcohol for several years!
I basically stopped drinking upon dx. However I will toast on a special occasion . Iโll never be a drinker again. It Doesnโt agree with me anymore.. this APC road is a saga . We all know that with time the inevitable returns ... It is the harsh psychology Of living with it .. itโs like the mob , โjust when you think youโre out, they pull you back in.โ Good luck tomorrow. ๐๐ท
I don't mean to entice anyone into drinking, it is a bad habit for some. I do have one well made martini each evening. I find it relaxing and enjoyable. I do quit about once a year for a few days just to make sure I can. But each to their own is my thoughts on the subject. Here's to all!๐ธ๐ธ๐ค
Hello Drphil.....nice to see you.....I'm sorry to hear that you're having back pain. Peeing is a priviledge nowadays... But at least you're still drinking those martinis.... I'm still eating my chocolate chip ice cream (two scoops). Keep on fighting the good fight....
I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner but apparently there is a tech error which prevents me from seeing posts sent to me. Watch those martinis, they're responsible for man boobs..... They act as storage bags for boose so we should call them manboozeboobs....
Since you're metastatic, you shouldn't go off ADT, but you CAN switch to high-dose transdermal estadiol (tE2) like they do in the UK. Not yet FDA approved, but reported to be just as effective with a far more tolerable set of SEs. Good luck.
I'm doing low weight bearing exercises, walking, walking and walking some more. I'm 75 yo, was bedridden for a month or so due to back pain from metastasis to my spine. Felt better after radiation but too lazy to get out of bed daily until a couple of guys from this forum encouraged me to walk and do exercises. Saved my life. I'm still taking zytiga and prednisone daily with xgeva monthly and PSA last week at <0.003. Have an appt with my Onco and scheduled for PET CT scan. Hoping for even better news.
Sure thing. We're all in the same fight. Keep us informed of your status.
Iโve lived on adt over five years with the same side effects that you describe. First three years were the worst . Somehow I learned to just go with it . Iโm now 59 . My father in law just turned 84 yesterday . APC is rough in my 50โs I canโt imagine it in my 80โs . My doc said Iโll never see 80
... thatโs a distant thought for me right now. It S about living for today more than ever. The problem for us is that the beast can turn its angry head upon us at its behest . Now youโre in an ok place and I hope that you feel better in any way . Stay strong ๐ช
