"Epidiolex ... was approved for medical use in the United States in June 2018 for treatment of two rare forms of childhood epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. Cannabidiol is the first United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drug derived from the Cannabis plant. It is made by GW Pharmaceuticals. In September 2018, Epidiolex was placed by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Schedule V, the least restrictive schedule for controlled substances, notwithstanding Cannabis itself being in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, for substances with "no currently accepted medical use"" [1]

UK Clinical Trial Aims to Understand Role of Cannabinoids in Prostate Cancer Treatment

"Cannabinoids have been widely used in medicines to control pain, nausea, and vomiting and to stimulate appetite, especially in cancer patients. As it is through effective research that we are able to understand and advance new options, the UK College of Medicine and Markey Cancer Center faculty are now looking to understand if there is a role for Cannabinoids in the treatment of a deadly cancer in men, prostate cancer." I wondered when the drug was approved why the company had tested it on two conditions that would not make the investors rich? Cynic that I am, I'm wondering if they had bigger things in mind. Epidiolex is FDA-approved and no doubt men with PCa will be asking their docs to prescribe it off-label in advance of the trial findings.

The trial is listed on ClinicalTrial.gov (clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show.... No dosage plan or range is given. PSA and testosterone levels are the primary end points.

I have researched CBD and found that it is difficult to achieve therapeutic concentrations when taken orally due to hepatic metabolism. IMO, it should be injected or administered via patches or suppositories. The trial may find some improvement in QOL (i.e., anxiety reduction), but I seriously doubt that a significant effect will be observed on PSA kinetics. Cheers, Phil

I may have to start taking this for some of the other benefits listed. Waiting to see if you-know-who jumps all over us for considering this 'supplement'.

I've been taking CBD oil and another supplement every day since early 2017, and I've been very pleased with my results so far.
