TACE (transarterial chemoembolization) for prostate cancer mets to liver or lung?

From my understanding, TACE provides the advantage of delivering higher doses of chemotherapy to a targeted region (liver/lung) and also interfering with tumor blood supply. Has anyone used this therapy for liver or lung mets? Obviously, if prostate cancer is in the soft-tissue, a systemic treatment would need to be used alongside TACE, but I'm wondering why I haven't seen it discussed, is there a reason it wouldn't be a consideration? Thank you.

It can only be used when there are limited sites of metastases and they are in the periphery.

I know a patient who got this treatment. Simply put, it did not work for him. The mets were not destroyed and the PSA value just stabilized for a while.

I've successfully received TACE for prostate tumor itself in Frankfurt (Prof. Vogl).

I do not have visceral metastases, however I've met few patients in Vogl clinic who successfully removed metastasis by TACE. If information is still relevant to your husband, here is the website radiologie-uni-frankfurt.de/ (please use Google Chrome to translate it). If you need more details, you can message me.

Thank you for your response. I have heard that Prof Vogl is among or perhaps the top expert in the world when it comes to TACE. My husband is currently controlled with ADT. Thankfully, what showed as a possible liver met on CT turned out not to be.

That is nice to hear that liver met was just a scare and I'm glad that ADT works good for your husband.
