Side effects of Zometa infusion:

"Dizziness, headache, tiredness, or flu-like symptoms (such as fever, chills, muscle/joint aches) may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly."

Thanks pjosheal13,least i know i am not the only one and its common

I had a recent bad experience with Zometa (one week ago) although it is not a blood transfusion. It is a bone strengthening medication.

I posted about it. One of the most common reactions is called an Acute Phase Reaction which includes fever, aches, pains and severe fatigue. It's similar to the flu and usually passes within 2-3 days. Mine went away in about 1-1/2 days.

Hope you recover soon!

I had IV Zometa for around 6 years with nary a side effect. Many men do well on Zometa. A few do have initial symptoms such as you describe. Some of them ask their doctor about the injection drug Xgeva (denosumab) as a possible alternative.

My husband has been getting Zometa for several years. Each infusion brings pain all over, and just a feeling of malaise for a few days.

The first infusion was the worst for me. The ongoing infusions always causes aches for me as well, but nowhere near as bad as the first time
