Who is taking E2 patch in addition to ADT and what are the results? Which patch, which dose and how often?

Less side effects like hot flashes? Less bone loss?

How did you get a receipt for it?

did you use it from beginning ADT?

You might want to look at this web site to get an insight into estrogen.

tctmed.com/estrogen-in-men/

I don't understand why doctors don't include estrogen in the treatment of any one on ADT. It appears it would reduce some of the side effects...hot flashes, bone loss and memory fog.

Dealing with my doctors now trying to get their support in using estridiol patches. So far I have only met resistance.

Would you mind telling me what your doctors say about why no to the estrogen?

Many thanks.

Here in Switzerland they say: it's not standard, they would give for bones Prolia.

My oncologists too will not prescribe estrogen as it is not standard of care. thank you so much for your kind reply and wishing you good health.

But I will try to get from house doctor, let's see. Maybe if side effects like hot flashes they give you the patch?

First I want my husband to check his estradiol level beginning ADT. As Patrick say (pjoshea13): "When E2 is less than ~12 pg/mL, there is a rapid loss of bone and a low-dose E2 patch should be used ."

And if doctors don't give him, I will try to get a patch for me.... and give him, don't know how to do else...

It is not standard of care...all thought I can't get it out of my mind that it is profit driven.

I used estrogen patches to drive my T to zero. I never did Lupron.

I think I used .2-.4 mg/day (2 to 4 patches providing .1mg/day for one week).

I added zytiga to the mix after about a month (my T was zero but zytiga might have helped afterwards - I added in because my oncologist asked me to).

T was undetectable for the most part. A few times it bumped up to 15 or 20ng/dl. Those were due to my reducing patch dose. Each time I bumped up and T was undetectable.

Very easy to do but you need to monitor T and E (I did this about once a week).

in reply to

Are you still on Zytiga? or just Supra T

in reply to

I'm still on zytiga. I ask two of my doctors about it and they both told me the same thing. They have no idea what, if anything, it could be adding. But because I'm doing much better than expected, don't change anything.
