Anyone with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer living in Jacksonville, FL. Just curious who your Doctor is, and with what hospital. How happy are you?

Have been curious about moving to Jacksonville from South Florida. I'm curious about the doctors there...oncologist, of course. Who is happy with their doctor and treatment and hospital...and could you name "names"...please...just want to do a little snooping.

Doctor, afflicted hospital, etc.

John

Good morning John 😎

I’ve been going to the Jax Mayo for nearly 4 years now. My M.O. is Dr. Winston Tan. I’m very satisfied with both him and the entire Mayo organization.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Mark

Thanks Mark,

Just doing "homework" and gathering information...that was great.

Malecare, through our nonprofit, The National LGBT Cancer Project, was part of the 9 member The Committee for Fair Visitation at Jackson Memorial. It was formed in light of Langbehn v. Jackson Memorial, Lambda Legal’s lawsuit on behalf of Janice Langbehn and her children who were denied visitation with the children’s mother and Janice’s partner of 18 years, Lisa Pond. While Lisa lay dying in the hospital for eight hours, Jackson Memorial refused to accept information from Janice about her partner's medical history. Janice was informed that she was “in an antigay city and state,” and she could expect to receive no acknowledgment as family. Other than one five minute visit, which was orchestrated by a Catholic priest at Janice's request to perform last rites, and despite a doctor's acknowledgement that no medical reason existed to prevent visitation, neither Janice nor their children were allowed to see Lisa until nearly eight hours after their arrival.

The good news is that Malecare and our partner nonprofits successfully challenged and changed hospital visitation rights for all Medicare and Medicaid receiving hospitals (4,900 hospitals). Now, we the patient, decide!
