Ending A Long Treatment Plan Sept 1st

RP Jan 2019; IMRT 29 sessions July 2019, Lupron staring March 2019 and Zytiga/Prednisone beginning August 2019. 4+ 3 and 3 lymph nodes involved, Gallium PSMA scan March 2019 showed residual cancer in prostate bed but no bone mets or had it traveled outside. 68 years young, I am hoping that I am done with this. Oncologist says 60% chance; RO says if PSA rises this fall or when ever, we'll do another scan then radiate. no mention of going back on ADT. OMG

Wish me well, fellow travelers.

Just my opinion, but when it RP failed, I’d have gone ahead with chemo, since by definition it is no longer in the prostate capsule. All the other thing you have done was a hit and miss targeted treatment with the hope it works. Chemo on the other hand is systemic, thus has a better chance of getting the beast. Regardless, I don’t blame you for wanting to end all treatments on Sept. 1. It gets old after a while. I feel that way sometimes, but Zytiga has worked for me for 27 months (still on it). My journey started 2006, so I have pretty decent mileage and still able to do much of everything, albeit I get tired by late afternoon.

I wish you well! Following a few months behind you. Gleason 9. Will stay on Zytiga for 2 years before wait and see.

Good luck!

What about the lymph nodes?

3/14 removed were cancerous and there were a couple remaining as evidenced by the PET 2.5 months post op.

TE: congrats on nearing the end of the long trip on ADT. I'm on a parallel track, last monthly Lupron shot is in September too, can't wait till the last shot and the nurse puts the last band aid on my butt and autographs it...! Good luck with your upcoming tests this fall.

I think that You should be able to raise that 60% by living healthy and staying active .

TEBozo: Seems like I am in a similar situation. Had RP February, 2006, radiation 6 years later, radiation and Zytiga/Lupron/Prednisone, 4 years later, and as of yesterday, have finished two years of all those meds....Now, I guess it is a wait and see period.
