I am very sad to advise you that Mark passed away at 10:44, Monday morning on May18 from complications from prostate cancer. As you might know ,he fought a stage four diagnosis for almost eight years being originally given only three years. After a bout with sepsis from his port, he spent 18 days in the hospital and was never able to recover . He enjoyed this venue of questions and answers and found it very useful during his illness. Thank you all. Sincerely, Carole, his wife in

Dear Carole,
I can’t imagine the pain and loss you must feel. I’m so sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. I feel for you and pray that God would come beside you and uphold you during this time of trial.
Mark was very helpful to us. We are also in Atlanta. He responded so poignantly to me when My husband passed away just this January..
They were very much alike in diagnosis age and treatment.
My heart goes out to you.
I remember him telling me you were married 47 years? We were 45 years.
You just kind of take it a day at a time-
And find peace that the pain is gone.
We feel we raised a pretty good sum for prostate cancer research by asking for donations in lieu of flowers.
May peace be with you during this time -
I could tell he was a great man.
Just so sorry to hear. My troubles fade away and are small compared to yours. Best of wishes for your future.
Carole I’m so sorry to hear this. I pray you get the peace you seek. Best wishes.

We all share in your sorrow.
I saw in a post from 4 years that Mark discussed using Olaparib. Do you know how long it had worked for him? I have been on it for 15 months and PSA has now slowly risen from undetectable to 0.02 to now 0.05 within the past 3 months. I understand that average effectiveness is 9 months.
So sorry to hear the bad news. May he Rest In peace!

Sad to read your post. My sincere condolences. Thank you for taking time to inform us on HU. Do not forget to take the time you need for yourself. It is never easy even when expected and sometimes hoped for just to end the pain. I've been there, watching and waiting. Remember to care for yourself.

Dear Carole, I am truly sorry to hear your sad news. It sounds like he fought hard for his life and now you must remember those wonderful times together. Wishing you peace.
Carole, I was stunned by the news about Mark. As you know, we became “buds” at Hampton, and I made every attempt to stay in touch without being a nuisance. I enjoyed every minute talking with Mark and my only regret is that I had not met him sooner. I loved his attitude and knowledge about our situation (s). Please accept our condolences-Tom W.
Hi Tom, Mark really enjoyed your friendship and joy of life . He also wished that you had connected sooner, but really enjoyed your phone calls. He fought so hard for so long , but in the end he was in such pain that as hard as it is to let go, this was the kindest thing for him. Thank you for your friendship! He is in a much better place .
So sorry Carole. RIP Mark.
May Mark RIP🙏🏻 My deepest condolences Carole. God Bless you🙏🏻
So truly very sorry for you, I feel your pain. Cherish your memories and the love he shared with you. 💔💔💔💙
So sorry for your loss.
Mark is with the angels now... He was with us here at H U for four years. He is free of his pain and worries and can now enjoy his time with all of his passed friends and relatives. Carole, May God watch over you, your relatives and friends. And don't forget Mark will be watching you..."Life to the living".....
ps. I always wondered why Mark used vandy69 as his userID?

my sympathies from the other side of the globe. R
Oh Carole, so very sorry for your loss. This is what we all fight against every single day.
After reading all your posts over the years, it is obvious that you and your husband went through a lot. Your determination and research is why he was able to live so long. While I am sorry he has left you and other family members and friends, it sounds like it was really getting hard for him and for you also.
I hope you find the time to grieve and have many great memories of times spent together. At some point, it will be time for you to begin living a new chapter that I hope brings you all the joy, and adventures you have dreamt of.
I think every man here wishes that for their spouse, and significant other who spent so much time helping them through an illness that would have been impossible without them (You). We want you to live your life and be as happy as possible!
All the best to you.
My sincere condolences to you and your family! May Mark rest in peace!

Dear Carole, I'm very deeply sorry for your loss. No words can heal wounds of such life events. I'm currently in position of your husband - at the edge. The words I tell to my wife, love of my life with whom I spent 5 best years are: "Life goes on, and life is beautiful in all its facets. This will not break you and you'll find peace. I want you to be happy and will always remember your smile. " RIP Mark.
