Any advice on Erleada?

Hello again - I recently wrote about my experiences with Zytiga combined with prednisolone. Last week I returned to the Mayo and saw Dr. Kwon. He has proposed putting me on Erleada. I'm concerned about side effects and would welcome comments. I might consider simply trying Zytiga again. "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't know." Maybe.

Hi ArcticFox

I got three years out of Zytiga dropped the predisone after 16 months and switched it out with damexathone got it worked at lowering my PSA for awhile. No side effects on this combination.

I was switched to Xtandi and had severe side effects, stopped in 5 days. First time for serious side effects. I am know on Casodex, awaiting Genetic testing results.

I am pretty much game for any meds. I look at the S.E. and think it worth trying, not everyone gets S.E. from these meds. Best of luck to you!

Thanks. I'm leaning towards trying Zytiga again. Dr. Kwon wasn't too happy about Xtandi.

Reevaluate quality as metastatic pain spreads, and all the best

I have been fighting metastatic for 5 years as when I was diagnosed it was in my hips and lungs. My lungs are clean I had SBRT 5 sessions in Nov 2020 and a session to my hip again.

Unfortunately on Xtandi I have 5 days I cannot recall, R 223 is on the table as well as chemo again.

Take care, stay well!

I'm 72 and was diagnosed two years ago and Erleada was my first (and current) med. I've also been getting Lupron every three months. I just re-read the list of possible side effects from Erleada and the only one I've experienced is hot flashes, which are infrequent and mild. (Since those are also SE for Lupron, I don't necessarily attribute them to the Erleada.)

My PSA started around 65 and within four weeks it was 1.74. Four weeks later it was 0.29. For the last 1 1/2 years it's been under 0.1. Last month it was at 0.01, it's lowest ever.

I started with a handful of bone mets. On my last bone scan, about two months ago, the report was that none had grown and most were smaller. My oncologist's words were "full remission".

I'm very happy with Erleada and I pray that I'm on it for years to come.

The zytiga prednisone combination is keeping my PSA at zero. I'll deal with the side affects of fatigue and mood swings. Going on 3 1/2 years now

Just starting this regimen.Hope the side effects will be tolerable.

Stay safe.

Yes, I am taking a combo of Zytiga and Erleada in a trial. The main side effect of the Erleada is fatigue. It doesn’t stop me from my exercise routine but I get a nap in most afternoons.

Can you tell me how much of each drug they have you on? I was on Zytiga and am now on Erleda. Thanks

1000 mg of abiraterone and 240 mg of apalutamide.

I note that after 18 months on both my cancer is progressing. I expect to start a new treatment regime in the next 6 months.

Been on Erleada/Eligard for 21 months. Last ultra sensitive PSA was 0.014 . Have hot flushes and low energy but QOL is not terrible. I can handle it for another 20 years or so.

Erleada appears better than Xanti. Why not try it and see how it agrees and works for you. Nothing lost: you can always stop it. It is good in general to change things up since PC is so adaptable.
