Pain related to xgeva?

Break60 profile image

I’ve had pain in right groin and hip. MRIs found nothing. Potential Xgeva side effects include pain in these areas . Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Bob

I'm not the answer man. Or the candy man. I posted about being changed from once monthly to once every three months for Xgeva injection ("will my teeth fall out"). Had one injection Dec and one March. Magnus did say he had been switched to every 3 months. I don't believe anyone else answered the question. (Sorry if anyone out there did, I'm on ADT. What are all of you on?) It seems you were switched to every 3 months about a year ago? I'm just replying because I really ache now. Did not think about the Xgeva until you posted. Maybe someone else here will add up 2 plus 3 and get 4. Thanks for the post. Now you have me thinking. You may want to start kicking the dog with your left leg.

I 've been on Xgeva every 3 months for about a year. Also zytiga dexamethasone and Lupton. Typical side effects but no pain.

With just a couple of mets, hopefully you can get all the way to the goal line and achieve a cure. Changing the Xgeva cycle for someone, like me, who has extensive bone mets, may be a little different. May not even be the Xgeva causing the aches and pain. I'm not a teenager any more.

I’m stopping xgeva and relying on annual bone scans. Plus estradiol patches have reduced impact on bones caused by ADT

Oh hell yes! Everything hurts, especially the right hip, for a few days after each injection. And of course, a bit of fatigue because what cancer drug doesn't list fatigue as the most common side effect?

That said, it's usually not debilitating, but close.

Xgeva (+ Lupron + Zytiga + Prednisone) for 16 months. All the usual ADT SEs. But no SEs I can attribute specifically to Xgeva. No pain in hip, and the only pain in groin (occasional and mild) is from hernia surgery 7 months ago. Hope this helps.

This will confirm your post (from Dr. Google)

Tell your doctor if you have serious side effects of Xgeva including:

"New or unusual thigh/hip/groin pain,"

CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!!

I’ve been using xgeva for years but when I saw that warning I asked questions.

I told my doctor, repeatedly. He made notes. Sigh...

My dad has complained of pain after this shot every month he gets it in the upper buttocks/hip. I don’t know what to do anyone suggests anything let me know.

Keep moving. I'm not sure if it helps with Xgeva specifically, but laying on the couch for too long definitely exacerbates pain and fatigue.

I agree.

This has nothing to do with pain from the shot which I get in the arm anyway not the butt. My doc told me to stop the xgeva shots and we’ll just use bone density scans annually to monitor bone strength or osteoporosis which by the way is much less of a problem with estradiol patches than with Lupron and it’s ilk. Lupron et al is a man killer and should be banned imho!

I've noticed pain throughout my rib cage, yet I only had one rib met which has already been treated with SBRT. I also feel like I've just pounded 6 shots of JD all the time now--lightheaded and woosie, but with none of the fun.....
