Does Casodex Cause Testosterone Spike?

Does anyone know if Casodex can cause an initial spike in testosterone levels? I had been on Casodex for almost 2 weeks in preparation for my ADT treatment. In that time, my testosterone level nearly doubled from 404 to 760 (my PSA dropped from. 0.022 to 0.009). I thought one purpose of the Casodex before ADT was to prevent a testosterone flare?

Yes it does cause testosterone to rise for awhile. The testicles are still putting out testosterone, but it is blocked from activating the androgen receptor, so PSA will drop. It prevents a symptom flare when used with Lupron because it blocks the surge in testosterone that Lupron causes from getting into the cancer.

Normal for both T and E2 levels to roughly double. The rise in estrogen can cause breast pain/growth, before the Lupron cuts off both T and E2.

We call that the PSA bounce. Don't sweat it.

My understanding is that eligard causes a T spike and that casodex can blunt that.

I have been on a 50md daily dose of Casodex for 5 -1/2 years along with a monthly injection of Firmagon. When Oncologist tried to get me off Casodex over 5 years ago PSA went up a bit. He put me back on Casodex and PSA went back to undetectable where it still stands now

Yes, this happened to my brother when he was on Casodex. It took a couple of months to drop the PSA.

I'm sorry, I've been on two different 30 day courses and my T-level never was tested. But I can say my PSA did NOT rise.
