I take sublingual b12 for pernicious anemia. Not sure it helped with post lupron energy but I doubt it. I do serious exercise nearly daily and, like many here, think that mitigated any energy issues.

He does walk every day for exercise how about sleeping goes to sleep but wakes up often

Yeah, hot flashes and having to pee still has me up but I’ve adjusted to it. If he’s peeing often he might consider taking tamsulosin.

He does take the tamsulosin dr said he can skip a day or two on it thanks

It appears he has a curable, stage 3 PCa, not an non-curable Advanced PCa. You may find more assistance on one of the other PCa blogs in the MaleCare group.

Thanks I have taken lemon balm also to calm the mind just wasn’t sure what he can take with the Lupron.

I had one 6 month shot because my long distance dr. Wanted my next visit 6 months later. I went to sleep for 3 days in my chair. 3 month is bad enough.

Yes, the shot is time-released. He should increase his exercise level - both weight-bearing and cardiovascular exercise. Unless he is a vegetarian, he probably does not need B-12, unless his doctor prescribed it

This

It was my last one as we stopped at 18 months. Waiting for psa to move and at this time I just missed my second month blood draw since stopping. Not worth the chance going to the lab. Covid is worse than pc at this time.

My MO, Dr. Sartor at Tulane in NOLA advised me to avoid taking vitamin B12, he commented that it feeds prostate cancer.

Exercise , Exercise and more Exercise.....I gave up my US Citizenship and moved to Pelotonia. I have been on Lupron for5 years add Xtandi for 15 months ....I feel great....started with 12 cores Gleason 9, RP, and 36 hits of Proton.....PSA hovers around 4 to 5 but trending down ...PET Scans redone 4 weeks ago all clear.....get busy.....no magic pill......They call it work out not relax out , sit out , or fun out....Blue Skies , Sky King and Penny (woof)

Has the XTANDI had any side effects to you. I am to start XTANDI on monday currently taking Lupron every three months and casodex daily. Psa had risen then found a couple of spots on pelvis. Just wondering what your experience has been. Just a little nervous starting another medication.

I've been on Xtandi for more than 6 years. Side effects much milder than other forms of ADT. Certainly know of guys who have had different reactions to it.

Has it worked for you in stopping the PCA. Did you have any spread prior to XTANDI

This November will be 20 years since diagnosis for me. I've had lots of different treatments. Yes it had spread to lymph node in the Iliac Chain. Just prior to Xtandi I did the Provenge protocol. My PSA is undetectable but I can't tell you for sure what that is attributable to.

I am serious......when you read a new med it can cause concern....I have nothing to report except mild hot flashes maybe one in the day which I may or may not notice and one around 5am in the morning lasting all of 20 seconds...I was able to retain my Classs II flight medical necessary to continue operating as a commercial pilot...Blue Skies...

I had to switch to 3 month Lupron. The 6 month was wiping me out. I use ambien for sleep. Usually get about 4-5 solid hours of sleep, then up to pee, then spotty sleep for a few more hours. And a nap most days at 1pm since Im up at 4-5 am. I think the Xtandi doesn’t help either.

I have been taking Lupron for about 20 months, every three months. I do not look forward to going to sleep, as my body gets hot, sweats, urination about 3-4 times a night. Started eating a special chocolate cookie before bed, and also keep a half cookie on my nightstand. The “special” cookie is made with CBC and does help me. I don’t wait up as many times.

Energy levels and B-12 deficiency are not directly related when you factor in ADT. Loss of energy is typical and exercise and life style modification can help. Howver, B-12 should be checked to see if supplementation is in order. I took B-12 to help rebuild my immune system which crashed due to anemia - another side effect of ADT. I had regularly scheduled bloodwork done along with my other tests (3 month intervals) to see where I was at. That practice is worth pursuing, as opposed to guessing. I took B-12 for only 3 months. Beyond that, it was deemed unnecessary. Today, I take a high quality vitamin B complex that covers all of the Bs'. I also use(d) medicinal mushrooms to maintain my immune system, which has fully recovered, post ADT (16 months and counting).

We wish you well on your journey ....

Every other day 5 mile hike or Golf. If I do not follow this regimen I suffer fatigue. I take 75 mg of Fenlafaxine for hot flashes which works for me. Best wishes.

Most side effects have treatment options. Press the doc for help.

In my 24 month experience the 4 month shots wore off at about 3 months so I went monthly.

I was in a vitamin D study and found out I was significantly deficient.

After carching up I had more energy.
