"Researchers tested approximately 4,518 drug compounds on 578 human cancer cell lines and found nearly 50 that have previously unrecognized anti-cancer activity. These drugs have been used to treat conditions such as diabetes, inflammation, alcoholism, and even arthritis in dogs. The findings suggest a possible way to accelerate the development of new cancer drugs or repurpose existing drugs to treat cancer."
Anticancer uses of non-oncology drugs have occasionally been found, but such discoveries have been serendipitous. We sought to create a public resource containing the growth-inhibitory activity of 4,518 drugs tested across 578 human cancer cell lines. We used PRISM (profiling relative inhibition simultaneously in mixtures), a molecular barcoding method, to screen drugs against cell lines in pools. An unexpectedly large number of non-oncology drugs selectively inhibited subsets of cancer cell lines in a manner predictable from the molecular features of the cell lines. Our findings include compounds that killed by inducing phosphodiesterase 3A-Schlafen 12 complex formation, vanadium-containing compounds whose killing depended on the sulfate transporter SLC26A2, the alcohol dependence drug disulfiram, which killed cells with low expression of metallothioneins, and the anti-inflammatory drug tepoxalin, which killed via the multidrug resistance protein ATP-binding cassette subfamily B member 1 (ABCB1). The PRISM drug repurposing resource (depmap.org/repurposing) is a starting point to develop new oncology therapeutics, and more rarely, for potential direct clinical translation.
These type of studies and experiments have been going on for many many years, and to date, NONE will stop the progression of advanced prostate cancer in MEN.
While I won't provide a complete and comprehensive list of supplements and 'natural remedies' there is some evidence that some of these 'compounds' or elemental substances can cause / contribute to apoptosis (cell death).
I believe the 'answer' or co-relation is dependent on the makeup of the individual cancer cells. Some will react (die off) and some won't. I suspect, based on what I've read that the more advanced cell types (mutated significantly) probably won't respond to these 'compounds'.
I had third party testing (RGCC Group refers) done about 1 year ago to test specific 'compounds' vs. MY particular cancer / cell type(s). It cost me thousands of dollars, but was worth it IMO, 4 me.
CTCs (circulating tumor cells) were found (in addition to the 'regular' castrate sensitive cells) that we most commonly associate with early stage(s) of the disease.
I was G9 + node positive at the time of testing.
We tested turmeric. quercetin, docetaxel (and some other chemo agents) , CBD, THC and many other of the 'common' drugs / supplements in use today.
In some cases, there was a positive response (they reported on values as low as 0 while some were greater than 30% for some of these with a few that approached 80 % or more) and in other cases, limited to no response whatsoever.
Their databases on response(s) are based on some of their own tests and trials, soit's not snake oil they are selling.
In fact, this group doesn't sell anything other than the testing. IF they were selling 'stuff', it would be much easier to dismiss it all .....
