My MO says my recurrence is stage 4 with distant metastases and "likely rectal invasion"....I'm on Casodex with my first Lupron shot on 2/4......can someone tell me the outcome of rectal invasion?

That is a pain in the ass! Rectal invasion is very hard to treat, especially since you've already had SRT. The problem with treating it is damage to the rectal wall resulting in a fistula. However, if untreated, it can cause bowel obstruction. Hopefully, Lupron will shrink it so that it doesn't cause bowel obstruction. My friend has a tumor there that is causing all kinds of interference with his BMs. We are trying to shrink it with hyperthermia. If photodynamic therapy were more widely available, we would try that, but I'm afraid of thermal ablation (like laser, HIFU or cryo) or focal brachytherapy. His doctor is suggesting a diverting colostomy.

Hi Nal, please clarify. Is a paddle the same as a Space Oar?
