Due to some speech issues, my husband had a consultation with a speech therapist. She also looked at various cognitive issues. Long story short, the evaluation revealed many symptoms that my husband is exhibiting that are indicative of Parkinson's.
So, are there any of you out there with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer who have also been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease?
Any thoughts on this issue?
I'm realing with the thought that he may have both diseases.
HELP!!

With increasing age, men have a greater risk for a number of diseases & one would expect that some here have two or more, but there appears to be no link or association between PCa & Parkinson's:
Interesting and that last link touched on everyone's favorite topic: cannabinoids
"An additional research which focuses on the extremely important antioxidant properties of cannabinoids, extract of hemp plant, may contribute to the neuroprotective effect in Parkinson's disease through banding the canonical cannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptors".
There was also a benefit cited with regard to vit D and coffee/caffeine with regard to Parkinsons disease.
problem is that sometimes caffeine isn't good for heart , my husband has arrhythmia , so difficult to get it right. But thanks it's good to know, maybe just one coffee could help.
Hi my husband has parkinson and PCa with mets in his bones. He also has a heart condition.
He's taking Xtandi and for the moment it seems to be working, still don't know if this is a trend, next tests will reveal more insight. Actually Parkinson has stopped him from walking and talking properly, I can understand him with great effort and his brain is perfect, but it makes communication with anyone else a struggle. I think it all depends on how he responds to the Parkinson meds, they help a lot and make all the difference it controlling the symptoms, so don't despair, we discovered his parkinson late so it's difficult to stabilise him.
I'm trying to find some help concerning his speech, upto now can't find anything. If there's anything you want to know please ask.
