baking soda for frequent urination after RT

I would like to know opinion of our members regarding use of baking soda for reducing frequent urination and burning feeling.....being well aware of snake oil beliefs.

In my small experience, thinking well it may be snake oil, I was having every hour night urination with burning sensation after 20 sessions of RT (no blood). Just for curiosity, I tried 1/2 tea spoon of baking soda twice a day for 2 days. I find my frequent urination disappeared;(3 hours frequency) and no burning feeling. I do not know if it is chance or if there is any validity. This I tried 3 days ago....

I am not taking baking soda today.....since I am not sure of side effects......

In same mind set.... I am taking Metformin 500mg and atorvastatin 10 mg....

My top prostate Onco gives OK discretely with a smile.

Since acid drinks stimulate urination (and should be avoided at this point), it may be that alkaline fluids slow kidney function. You may find pyridium to be soothing (don't wear white underwear).

Hi

I take bicarb every day.

One teaspoon plus 1 teaspoon of Vitamin C powder and 1 teaspoon of Magnesium powder.

The bicarb fizzes up and helps disolve the 3 ingredients.

The bicarb helps to increase my PH level to around 7.5 or more.

With the alkalinity increase is said to help slow down the cancer.

I still urinate every 2 to 3 hours but hope this will improve in time.

Your ONCO can smile as much as he likes.

Apart from prescribing his drugs he is not much use.

Have you got rid of the tumor in the prostate.

If not contact 3D Urology in Xiangtan.

I met a number of USA guys there swear by the results they achieve.

Secondly I bought a PEMF machine from a company in LA.

This is addressing the metastases.

It seems to be a great help.

No drugs and no side effects!!!

Best of luck

I take omeprazole to reduce stomach acid. I'm dealing with a hiatal hernia / GERD / reflux. Same effect as baking soda / TUMS?

Nope, different effect. Omeprazole works by turning off the proton pumps that make stomach acid. The pumps move ions causing the ph of the stomach to drop while raising the ph of the rest of the body, causing the kidneys to make the urine more alkaline to compensate and maintain constant ph. When you shut off the pumps, the stomach has less acid so the urine becomes more acidic to maintain body ph.

Baking soda raises the ph of the stomach, which ultimately makes the urine more alkaline. Baking soda is bicarbonate which buffers acid. I've read it can slightly increase athletic performance by helping stabilize blood ph during hard efforts. A good sprint will drop blood ph a tiny bit due to lactic acid and co2.
