Very informative group of Doctors. Was able to talk one on one with Dr. Scarpato from Vanderbilt University Med. Center...about some issues I have developed that are causing urinary blockage. I spent the entire evening the night before in N.Y. in the emergency room unable to pee. Finally got some blockage cleared out by 5 am and got 1 & 1/2 hours sleep before my partner and I got to the conference. I will return with advice from Dr. Scarpata to my urologist with her recommendations. Also met some lovely people from this site. Staying a couple of extra days before returning to Ft. Lauderdale on Monday evening.
Life is beautiful.

They mostly talked about existing treatments...but with insight into how to approach them. Talked about realistic side effects to expect. Some talk of what's on the table coming up.
More importantly for me, I got to discuss my ongoing issues with urinary blockage with an expert who understood the effects that some of my treatments have caused and gave advice that I will take back to my urologist.
Personally it was great in that regard.
This site seems to keep us all abreast of new treatments that are forthcoming...so no real surprises there.

P.S. but I repeat...it was good to be amongst my "peers".
Good conference ! Sorry about your ER experience . We are feeling tired but only because the YANKEES game went on FOREVER last evening ! But they won, so it’s all good. 😉
I hope that you geel better nothing like complications while traveling. We are on a 3 week trip ourselves outside the country. Perhaps your urologist can get a handle and clear the blockage. I know after being healthy 99.9 percent of my life what the word chronic means afthis summer. It is very disheartening. Keep your spirits up and do something that make you happy every day. Get well brother.
Yes.. I was hoping that there would be some kind of "meet up" for those interested. I did meet some lovely folks from here who recognized me from my profile pick and got to chat with them.
We left a little early since I had no sleep the night before and I needed to pick up a prescription from the emergency room.
I spent the night before the conference...until 5 am ...in the emergency room. I could not pee. It was horrible. Was catheterized...they took it out and I passed a big chunk of dead tissue (from prostate area...after that I flowed, so they released me. Got to Convene on 1 1/2 hours sleep. I'm okay as long as I keep peeing until I get back to Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow night. I have not been peeing like a racehorse, so I am nervous. 😳
Was ready to jump on the Acela train to Penn Station from Boston, born and raised in NYC, this conference was perfect for me.
But, my dogs got into an awful brawl, Picasso the Eskie was bleeding heavily from a minor cut, so unfortunate to missed the conference. Was so excited to meet the members, oh well things happens.
I'm grateful you recovered well, midtown NYC has amazing healthcare, South Florida was like the extended NYC borough back in the days, all the best...
