caught prostate cancer?

I have heard Dr. Schloz of you tube fame and one of our colleagues refer to PCA as “being caught”? Did we catch prostate cancer from a virus? I have a family history my father, his brother, my grandfather. But by far mine is the most aggressive? On my mothers side brca is present but she has had no cancers but all her nieces have. I have two uncles on her side that perished from pancreatic cancer. I do not know my brca as my insurance company has not approved the testing.

You should be able to get genetic testing for pretty cheap. I am BRCA2 and insurance paid but all my siblings and their children were tested for free.

Has having the gene changed any of your treatment?

No, not yet. I am 7 years 2 months on Lupron/zytiga. When it eventually fails MO is talking Lynparza which is a Paarp inhibitor

People say all kinds of ridiculous things on youtube.

You can get a free germline genomic test here:

Thanks for this. My family has been a neoplasia disaster zone (my daughter got tested and they found nothing, but her family history...)

That guy on tube Dr. Schloz is really good. I think you are misinterpreting the words he is using. All he is referring to is a possible genetic link.

Why would it matter? You have it, now deal with it. There are known genetic links but otherwise, go forward with the best information you have. You can do well if you don't panic and/or go off on some wild goose chase based on something you see on the internet.

Now would it not matter to know the etiology so perhaps we could prevent my 3 sons and my cousin from getting this horrid curse? Makes sense that mowing where it comes from besides prevention it may give clues to a cure.

thank you so much for your input. Much appreciated. It is always fun to find thought police and bullies everywhere you go.

When I was diagnosed I started the promise trial as Tall Allen mentioned above. It took about a month to get the results. In my case I had NO genetic issues. Painless - spit in a tube, send it off via mail and you are done. They keep me informed via email all the way through the process and they offer free genetic counseling if necessary.

My urologist did not think I needed to do any genetic testing even though I laid out the risk factors.

Reason why I thought I needed it. I had No family history on my father’s side due to an early divorce. My mom died of uterine cancer and because our kids years ago gave us a 23 and Me test to learn about our heritage. Well both my wife and I have Eastern European genetics. Who knew but that one small piece to the puzzle made genetic testing a real thing when I was diagnosed with PC.

Being caught:

Man, You're no where...... I got my Pca from playing with Leonard in his sandbox when we were 5 years old......Unfortunately Leonard passed last year...he was drunk one night and accidentally fell into an industrial sand pit while trying to leave a piss.....(always leave one, never take one)....

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Caught = diagnosed As in, "You have prostate cancer but we caught it early."

Dr Scholz is an excellent MO furthermore the experts are thinking these aggressively forming cancers are derived from viruses, especially the very aggressive ones. Epstein bar n other viruses are thought to play a big role in these aggressive cancers. I agree if you can somehow prevent them from passing on to your children or other family members would b wonderful. Also Dr Scholz’s colleague Dr Moyàd told me in Jan at the Pcri conference in La, they’re getting close to developing an mRNA vaccine that will kill these aggressive mutations, hence antiviral cancers…
