Just wondering if anyone out there has done these two treatments together? And if so, what were the side effects and did you have any favorable results?
Thanks much!!

There is some info about this combination for mCRPC:

Yes, I started taking Xtandi in 2015 and had Taxotere chemo later that year. I remain on Xtandi and my PSA has remained undetectable.
Chemo SE’s were pretty rough and Xtandi SE’s after taking it for a couple years got pretty rough too. I’m currently on a half dose of Xtandi which helped and things are stable. I consider SE’s from these to be substantial but tolerable given the results.

Thank you! Did you do one course of taxotere (6 to 8 infusions) while at the same time staying on the xtandi? Sorry to hear you have had bad side effects with both but it sounds like it is working! Seems that I have read about other men’s experiences with xtandi and the need to reduce the original dosage.
Yes both at same time, 6 rounds of Taxotere. In fact Dr. Myers PA picked up on a suspicious looking freckle on my nose during one of my visits. Turned out to be melanoma! So I underwent Mohs surgery while undergoing chemo and Xtandi. They ended up carving a good portion of my nose off and had to reconstruct it. Very tricky balancing chemo immune system issues and surgery at same time. It was a very difficult time, but fortunately they got the melanoma before it had spread. Had the PA not picked up on it I’d likely be dealing with a whole other situation in addition to PCa. And on we go...

Man, that sounds really rough! You have been through a lot! Good that the melanoma was caught though or you would be dealing with two different cancers. I have a friend that has had melanoma on her nose and back and she also has non-Hodgkins lymphoma. As you say, we just keep plodding forward hopeful that a cure will be found in our lifetimes. Best of health to you!
I am currently doing jevtana and xtandi via a clinical trial as I know some others on the board are. I just had my 6th infusion last Wednesday. My psa has gone from 10 to .88. Pooped some days but overall it is going better than when I did 6 sessions of Docetaxel in 2018/19.
Interesting, thanks for the information. I guess I need to know the difference between how Jevtana and Docetaxel each work on cancer. Another oncologist at the University of Denver had mentioned Jevtana if Docetaxel began to fail. More research is in order - hope the combination of xtandi and Jevtana keeps the PSA low for you.
Docetaxel and enzalutamide at the same time.... 9 cycle before side effects force me to stop. Xtandi alone turned me into an invalid. Had to cut dose mult. times and settled at 80 mg each night at bed time. Neuropathy to hands and feet seem permanent. Toe nails dying again. What fun is this new semi normal.
Really sorry to hear how rough your journey has been. Did anyone tell you that ice on hands and feet during Docetaxel can minimize neuropathy or did you do that and still have it happen? So you are still on xtandi alone and that seems to be working for you? Best of health to you, this cancer bites the big one!
Iced both hands and feet during treatment (9 cycles). Xtandi, Megace for hot flashes (but it is making me fat), clonazapam and 20mg meletonine to sleep, gabapentin to try to keep neuropothy from getting any worse. Holding PSA at 0.130+- for last year+.
