My dad is also on Zoladex. I believe it is the same thing? Where do you live? I am in Australia.

It is a different chemical (goserelin vs leuprolide), but it does the same thing - they are both GnRH agonists. The side effects are the same.

Hello,

I live in British Columbia. Goserelin acetate, sold under the brand name Zoladex is an agonist so it is much the same as the other Lupron type drugs. The only one that has a different mechanism of action is Firmagon (an antagonist). I have been on Zoladex for over six years. Are their side effects? Yes, indeed. You cannot deprive a man of testosterone without some side effects. The two biggest ones for me are fatigue and some brain fog. I can live with both. Good luck!

This is purely anecdotal, but like Mish 80 above, I am also in Australia. For reasons I don’t understand it seems like Zoladex is prescribed in Australia in preference to Lupron. I visit a number of Prostate forums and have seen many reports of men (mainly in the US) on Lupron who have very severe and unpleasant side effects. All of the guys I know in Australia on Zoladex (including myself) seem to be coping quite happily. That is not conclusive evidence that Zoladex is easier to handle than Lupron, but it does make me happy that I am on Zoladex. I have had no problems other than the very obvious - hot flashes, impotence, and a small loss in energy, but certainly no depression or major fatigue.
