Has anyone taken docetaxel on a 2 week cycle at 50 mg vs the traditional 3 week cycle at 75 mg? I have read that it has less side effects.

My husband did it low-dose which was 25 mg for 3 weeks and 1 week off, getting the full 75 mg dose but split over 3 weeks. No hair loss or neuropathy but did have severe nausea.

How often and how long did the nausea last. How did he deal with it. Tx

The nausea seemed to be continuous. He used oral ondansetron (that dissolved immediately on the tongue) and also perchlorperazine 12 hour suppositories. As long as he took both on schedule he was fine. He also used medical marijuana to help with his appetite.

This study recommends 2 week cycles at 50 mg: "The 2-weekly administration was associated with significantly longer time to treatment failure than was 3-weekly administration". With other words, this had better results.
