A new friend's husband has been diagnosed with Gleason 9 (5+4), PSA 26, 55 years old. The MRI showed seminal vesicle and nerve bundle involvement. They are now waiting for the bone scan. They want to get second opinions at Dana Farber. Can anyone recommend a RO and a urologist/surgeon for them to see there?
Thanks, Donna

I see Dr. Sweeney at DF. He is good, but busy with research, travel, and teaching. I have heard Dr. Pomerantz is good too and perhaps more available/accessible. They all seem to be pretty much by the book, but an excellent place to start and get your bearings. Your friend's husband might want to consider an Axumin scan available at DF - better specificity and resolution than a bone scan.
Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. It is life changing, but there are a lot of good treatment options and science is advancing everyday. Stay positive!
Dr. Taplin at DFCI is a wonderful medical oncologist. Dr. Irving Kaplan is a great radiation oncologist at Beth Israel Deaconess, which is nearby DFCI.
I have to agree on Dr Taplin I have been seeing her now for over two years and she was recommended by my previous Onc at USC. She is very busy with research, but I would definitely reach out to her office.
