Looking for an advanced prostate cancer doctor recommendation at Dana Farber, Boston.
Dr. Lauren Harshman, GU medical oncologist is an excellent physician, very caring and compassionate, has a good balance of research and care, interested and interesting. Highly recommended; she's my physician.
Thank you for that recommendation. I like the "interested" and "interesting". How likely do you think she is to think 'out of the box'?
She is very willing to think 'out of the box' she's very involved in Clinical Trials, active with the NCI National Clinical Trials Network, yet willing to prescribe Standard of Care options if that is the best path for you. She is a cautious caring researcher who consults with experts from other major academic medical centers. She is keenly involved in finding the best, most specific treatment for me, a personalized approach to care.
Dr Mary Ellen Taplin is an excellent Oncologist at DFCI.
If you are in Boston, consider talking with Greater Boston Urology. The urologist on my team (Keith Bleiler) is with them, and he is great. BUT, I am on Cape Cod and he is down here, so you will have a different set of Drs up in Boston. They are heavily invested in solutions to PC (like the importance of exercise in any therapy), and are one of the key sponsors of the Boston area Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk. It may reflect upon Dana Farbers' approach to PC in that they are not one of the sponsors of the national/local Zero Prostate Cancer effort.
I know this is not Dana Farber, but you should realize their are other games in town for PC therapy.
