Low Free T

A year ago my T was 991 just before going on metformin. Just got this from UC Irvine where the study below was done.

Your Testosterone level is 581

SHBG: 124 (High)

Calculated Free testosterone 4.45

Concern is for more aggressive behavior with low Free T. Reference urotoday.com/conference-hig...

In the interval cited I have been on metformin and see where this could have caused the large T drop. Does this mean metformin may present more risk than benefit in such a case?

Your T before Metformin is impressive. A Free T of 4.45 now is not abnormally low. Maybe on the low end of normal, but why are you concerned?

Don't know your age so here are some ranges.....

3.87 to 14.7 ng/dL for ages 55 to 59

3.67 to 13.0 ng/dL for ages 60 to 64

3.47 to 13.0 ng/dL for ages 65 to 69

3.28 to 12.2 ng/dL for ages 70 to 74

My provider was concerned since it was close to the lowest quartile cited in the study.

However I am 66 and note your ranges, thanks.

Higher Free T may give more energy, increase your bedroom mojo, etc.. Don’t know and curious what your provider was thinking.

I am starting ADT vacation and presumably my T is recovering though I cant tell any difference yet. The Avena Sativa sounds intriguing. Oats in a capsule.

Be well.
