4 years after diagnosis. He was brave and extraordinarily stoic right up until the end. Treatment was stopped four weeks ago and we managed to bring him home for the last week with the help of palliative care, where he enjoyed seeing many visitors and listening to his beloved stereo. On Monday night at 6 pm he got terrible pain which wasn’t helped with ordine or sublingual fentanyl. The palliative nurse came and administered subcut morphine then he lost consciousness and died half an hour later. The boys and I were there and I was lying beside him. We are all heartbroken but glad that he no longer has to suffer all the pain and indignity that this f***ing disease hands out. Love to you all on his behalf and mine and good luck with your treatment.

It always hurts when we lose one of our own. His courage is inspiring to us all.
I hope I’m surrounded like that when my time comes. You and your family are in my heart.
My husband told me he hopes I will be in bed next to him when his time comes. I told him since we have no control over that, he should ask God to grant him his wishes. I pray I will be there also. Our children are speaking about the possibility of finding him dead, and are a little nervous about that. He wants to remain home until the end.
