Some have found that taking zytiga 250 mg with a low fat meal will get the same dosing as 1000 mg on an empty stomach....that will help.... see below:

healthunlocked.com/search/p...

In the meantime, try and hook up with a free clinic which can sometimes help...In Virginia, there was a free clinic associated with a pharmacy that could get expensive meds cheaper...

Good luck, my man....keep fighting...

I am on a 3/4 dose and was previously on 1/2 dose. My liver numbers were funky but went back to normal. My MO preferred the 3/4 dose rather than 1/2 but would do the 1/2 if liver numbers go bad again.

You can look into co-pay assistance for the generic. I get mine filled through Accredo/Express Scripts and they had switched me to generic without even realizing it last fall. I was at my out of pocket max and didn't even know til Jan and my new annual deductible kicked in and my copay was a few thousand dollars. I forced them to fill it with Zytiga to use CarePath. After which they called and said they could provide copay assistance for the generic. not sure what program it is, but maybe it could work for you too. I'd think care path would last longer with a $12,000 annual max benefit, but must be your insurance covers almost nothing and you burned through that in no time.

Which generic drug did the switch you too in lieu of Zytiga ?

I'd bet there is more than one. Once the patent expires several other manufacturers usually create their own. The generic name of zytiga is abiraterone acetate, and the one I take is from Mylan.

Tk you ...our co pay is 2500.00+ and you burn thru that 12000.00 fast. Just another worry. We are waiting now to hear back from Dr. office on the generic .

Wow, medical insurance is such an abyss in so many ways. Mine is employer sponsored and after hitting our family deductible of $2700 (which carepath paid for in Jan) my copay is $35. I'm sorry you have such a burden to bear. Hopefully one of the programs suggested by others here can help.

Thank you so much. It took a week back and forth with the Dr. and Express scrips but finally approved for generic thru copay assistance for 10.00 per mo. So relieved

Enrol in Fund finder website. The site sends you email alerts as soon as funds are available. It's a good tool that helps in our fight. I'm also on the generic form of Zytiga and after Medicare and My insurance advantage plan this months supply Was $ 123.00 which the grant gladly picked up.

Speak to your oncologist .

I paid so much for Zytiga and it failed at 11 months. I have a full bottle.

Jansen carepath was NO help.

However Xtandi -awarded prescription at no charge.

Just want you to know there is financial hope.

Speak to MO about Xtandi.
