Quick question. My wife lost her job recently and with that my coverage on her companies health plan. I decided to purchase a Medical supplement plan F to go alongside my standard Medicare coverage. As well I enrolled in a Prescription D plan and was told this morning that should I go back on Zytiga my co-pays would not qualify under my original Zytiga Instant savings program. This program only allows this under commercial insurance plans, not Part D. So that said I assume I now have to pay 33% of the cost initially which right now seems impossible. Anyone out there who has Part D and uses Zytiga and knows if there is any help available for these very high co-pays? Many thanks James
Zytiga Co-Pay: Quick question. My wife... - Advanced Prostate...
Zytiga Co-Pay
Each particular part d supplemental charges differently for different drugs.... Different co-pays and such.
Even within the same supplemental plan you need to go shopping between pharmacies for the best price. Don't limit yourself to just the one pharmacy they most favor.
Goodrx.com doesn't always work so well on really expensive drugs, but take a look at them. You can even enter you part d supplemental plan into their site, and they will take their pricing into account.
Was your wife offered COBRA coverage? Is there still time to sign up?
Do a google search for help paying co-pay on Zytiga....I did for Xtandi and pay just $33 a month
Not sure, but I think the drug maker (Jansen) has a financial aid plan for those patients with low income. If you qualify it could be a life saver. Keep searching ,try to do anything to keep on the Zytiga.
Keep the faith

Did you recently become eligible for Medicare? Because the only time you can get a guaranteed issue Medicare Supplemental policy is within six months of signing up for Part B. (About 6 states mandate guaranteed issue at all times.) If you apply outside this period, you will be medically underwritten and they will deny coverage if you have cancer.
There is a paper just published that shows that 250 mg (1 tablet) taken with a low fat breakfast has equivalent PSA results compared to the standard dose 1000 mg (4 tablets) taken in the fasting state. You might want to discuss with your Oncologist whether this is a reasonable option for you. The reference is: ascopubs.org/doi/full/10.12....
Task solution is a good one as it seems one 250 Zytiga taken with a low fat meal works as well as four tabs taken while fasting. First, though, go online and check out the Patient Access Network (PAN) and see if they have dollars available to make your copays.
Zytiga is one of the drugs for which they will make copays. If they don’t have money available at the moment they may have some very soon. Call them. All necessary info is on their website. Good luck to you.
Many thanks everybody for all your very helpful answers. This afternoon Dana Farber helped me get a one time grant of $3500 towards the cost of the co-pay. After that they are going to arrange something with Johnson and Johnson for further assistance.
