If one is determined castrate resistant on Lupron and Zytiga, why is the standard of care to remain on Lupron when the cancer has moved on to different fuels?
Castrate resistant: If one is... - Advanced Prostate...
Castrate resistant
Because it still helps with any cancer that may still be hormone sensitive. Have you become castrate resistant?
As castration resistance sets in, the cancer becomes exquisitely sensitive to even the smallest amount of androgens, so it is more important than ever to be totally testosterone free.
CRPC means being resistant to castration - not androgen independent. I would not categorize testosterone as PCa fuel, but in most CRPC, the androgen receptor remains in play. Drugs that target the androgen receptor axis need basic ADT to continue.

Your doctor should recommend other ADT drugs. They all approach Pca in different ways. He/she should be trying casodex or zytiga.
There are a mixed population of cancer cells. Most may be castrate resistant but some are still sensitive to androgens. The adt drugs are for them.
