Many of the other name brands of drugs that lower testosterone for prostate cancer treatment come in at comparable costs billed to insurance.
Many men in the USA have Medicare as primary insurance and either a Part D plan or some other secondary/supplemental insurance for their drugs coverage.
In any event, the contact info at this link might possibly help you and the prescribing physician bring down some out-of-pocket costs to you for Eligard.

Your co pay with Medicare should be less than 150 dollars. It’s covered under part b Medicare if administered by physician

I live in Nashville and have been treated at urology associates. Good group and they even found private fund to help pay for zytiga. However the cancer has spread to ribs and spine so I go now to MD Anderson, Nashville is limited in treating prostate cancer. I don't recommend Vanderbilt for prostate cancer because it unfortunately does not make it a specialty. Also, I know 3 people who went there for treatment and all were disappointed with there care.
Contact the drug company directly, they have a assistance program, my dad and mom are on SS and could not afford the medicine, they qualified for free meds for a year with a possible renewal. Can’t hurt to try. 😀😀
Vanderbilt --- we've been extremely pleased with my husband's care there. Dr. Penson (urology) and Dr. Ancell (medical oncology) are both wonderful. Dr. Penson in particular is recognized as a leader in research and speaks all over the globe.
I have United Healthcare and they paid my Eligard bill every 3 months for 6 1/2 years. I had a $50.00 copay to see the doctor. I was 65 years old when I started and now I am 73. You need a secondary insurance and go to a cancer clinic. Check about the price before you go. I had no coverage when I started in 2007 and they wanted $130,000. for 42 radiations. I found a doctor who had the same machine and only charged me $30,000.! Then I needed another 30 radiations in 2011 and Medicare only charged me $42.00. So get a secondary insurance for sure, and just keep truckin'.
Thanks Jim it's having cancer is one thing but praying the bill makes you sick to Lol
