Does anyone know if it is counter productive to advanced prostate cancer treatment to engage in sexual intercourse? Granted, the desire is rarely present due to Lupron but on that rare occasion is it okay to partake or is it harmful to the treatment? Since the treatment is all about suppressing testosterone it seems like it may be a bad idea.

Intercourse
No problem. Go for it!
Not much information regarding libido and sexual performance while on PSa hormone therapy. Reports suggest, low T does not contribute to erectile dysfunction, and that active maintenance to prevent penis atrophy should be part of overall treatment.
Also, for those having sex with considerations of conceiving, some medications may cause complications with pregnancy. For instance, Zytiga is documented with potential hazard to the fetus.
Anyway, prevailing advices with PCa, does inform to "use or lose it"...
This would have been great advice a year ago when I had my prostate removed. Now I'm dealing with that atrophy and am WAY behind and have to look at more extreme options.
Did they give you Cialis
Sildenafil (viagara) was what I was on, but no one stressed the damage that non-use could cause or how to avoid it. Granted, the more important thing was taking care of the cancer, especially my PSA never went to zero, so the surgery didn't get it all. I began hormone therapy and zytiga, and was still neglecting anything to stave off the effects and the ED. I just always thought it was a time/healing thing and I'd get functionality back. Not necessarily true. Odds are that I've developed venous leaking and the only functional treatment will be a penile implant, in which case it better be able to provide an upgrade.
If able ,consider it a gift from heaven...
Do not even think about it a second. If you have the capacity, do it
My doctor encourages masturbation.
Not at all.
