PAIN
Pain comes from the mets that might develop. If you have mets and they grow and start to interfere with an organ's function or get large enough to to push on another body part this can be felt as pain.
Pain can be dealt with by shrinking the size of the mets through radiation of another treatment like some type of ADT or by chemotherapy. Pain can also be dealt with by using aspirin etc., opiates, pain patches and many men also find that marajuana canals be helpful in managing pain.

Hi JoelT: received your reply and it was most helpful. I have been thinking about this subject ever since I read a lengthy and vivid description of the final stages of PCa which was written by MD Larson. As a matter of fact I believe his essay was referred to in this blog... the docs description of the prelude to dying was horrible, really horrible. I do not want want to go like that. I had an RRP in ‘04, gland and nearby nodes were negative. Throughout the years, my uro has been pumping me up with T supplements of all kinds, wanted to raise my T to normal levels (DOB 5/5/36) for a man my age. Oh, and I do suffer from Hypogondism, first diagnosed in ‘99. The uro was trying to get me feeling better by raising my T. But mid-2017 my PSA started rising and a scan showed cx in my left Iliad node. Since then the node has doubled in size and I have Mets in quite a few places. After seeing two Onocologists, I am on my way to Dana Farber in Boston to get some well known PCa docs to tell me what the hell is going on inside as no one has yet to tell me. So next week I hope to get an expert opinion and get started on some med instead of a steady diet of Lupron. T level under 12, PSA, after two increases it now at 28.
Checked out your other site, interesting, I subscribed. Hey, I was born in Bay Ridge; cant believe how Brklyn has completely turned around twice. Best of luck to you, me, and everyone else. And I know, for $3400, you can get a legal shot of prednisone (or something similar) when you have 180 days left in liberal VT.
And I’m going to start vaping on my med mj, very soon. But to tell the truth, I don’t feel like I have cancer ‘cept for fatigue/terrible taste in mouth/all food tastes terrible/lazy. And a few others. But no pain yet... Joe S. Newport RI
My husband’s pain started in his lower back before we knew he had pc. Family doctor told him it was age (he was 69) and put him on pain meds. Doctor refused to do any X-rays or scans (“not medically necessary” he said). Long story short, pain spread to upper leg bones, up his spine and shoulders. Now doctor was saying “full body gout” and told us to see a rheumatologist. Instead we went to an Internist still not suspecting caccer. New doctor did blood work, ultrasounds and bone scans. 5 days later we got the news. He said pc pain often presents in the lower back first.
I think diffuse lower back pain is most common. It will sneak up on you. There are good options
What is diffuse lower back pain?
