Dr. Myers recommends a Mediterranean-style diet. Given that men with PCa, as a group, have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease, it makes sense to consider the Med diet.

But does it help for PCa? My view is that the same metabolic issues that increase CVD are also at play in PCa. Particularly insulin resistance.

The Med diet has been shown to be effective against CVD. It is not a low-fat diet - 40% - & it would be a mistake to cut the fat & expect to get the benefit. IMO.

I started a vegetarian diet a few days after I was diagnosed. That was 25 years ago. Since then I have added fish to my diet. Many doctors have praised me for having taken taken that step. In spite of Tall Allen's post, my logic has been that prostate cancer is a hormone fed cancer so all of the growth hormones that are fed to cows, chickens and pigs cannot be good for prostate cancer. As for the study Tall Allen sights, you have to ask who sponsored the study. This is true for any study. The study he sites may have been sponsored by the beef lobby.

Do all you can for yourself including a good diet. Do your own research on diet, drugs and supplements.

The hormones fed to our cow pigs and chickens cannot be good for us. Neither can our chemically controlled crops (Monsato) where to begin...

Amen, Monsanto is trying monopolize the food market with their "Franken Foods".

Monsanto is banned in many countries including Europe. They have a squad of people (ex-military) that go around to American farmers to check on the seed they are planting. They want to make sure that they are planting Monsanto seeds. If not they make life hard on them..

Hmm, hormones in food are not necessarily bad for Pca because I thought it was estrogen that was used to fatten up the chooks. Not sure what they feed cows and pigs, both of which I gave up years ago. Estrogen was used to fight Pca, it was supposed to act like ADT, but then guys grew breasts, and Rodger didn't know if he was John or Jane.

I reckon the issue with food is much about how much we eat, and nearly everyone overeats so both Oz and US and UK have astounding rates of obesity and diabetes and it seems that sugar, especially fructose is the real villain. Despite all the damn chemicals we are living longer on average than we ever have. Just eat less, so you don't get so much chemical. Hardly anyone agrees with that, judging by their waist.

But I reckon if you had a bone marrow transplant using a few cells from Germaine Greer, those cells would march out and dismantle all you maleness including Pca, pronto.

Don't ask me what it would do to your appetite :-)

I just looked this up, those hormones given to domestic animals are perfectly safe and approved by the FDA. We all know the government doesn't lie.

Ah, the FDA, I hear all sorts of terrible things about it.

I am glad I gave up all red meats and I doubt we need a meat industry, which cannot help itself being unethical, and having to treat animals badly to make a $$$$. We ourselves are animals and evolved to be able to eat anything, and then we evolved to get rich and eat everything, and of course we cannot say its sustainable for the next 10,000 years, but we fumble on, the species "Homo Fumbulatus" aka "Homo Wrectus" because this species scurries about the planet wrecking the joint.

So ppl say F**k the future, I want it NOW, and it includes living twice as long as we used to. I eat a huge plate of green raw vegies each night. Oh dear, pesticides? Nah, probably no because so much is grown in a barn hydroponically and NOBODY knows any more just where their food comes from. The anxiety won't get you better food, but you all have a choice, McDonalds type garbage or the good stuff

that costs more so most ignore it. But if everyone chose the good stuff the price would triple and cost of living escalates so at the supermarket we subconsciously hope other ppl don't all buy stuff that is good. I am certain my diet costs twice the price of what other ppl buy, judging by what I see go past in shopping trolleys.

I could never love the bad foods because they were bad for me.

I used to like a glass of shiraz at dinner time, but even that little joy didn't make me feel better so I just quit that. Being alone, I don't find myself gorging to get too full with other ppl. Eating cannot be a perfect activity, but I record my weight each day from electronic scales. I see my own trends. I am in control, but Pca is still gonna get me. But I can have a good life until it does.

My naturalpathic onocologist Mike Uzick of genisis med in Tuc Az ,put me on plant based no animal proteins no processed sugar no processed food high alkaline diet. Was very difficult at first because I love all foods especially the bad ones. Main belief is to cut sugar. Not a subject to discuss on HealthUnlocked. .many still

Reject any natural food theories. ,hit the private chat . Fasting also good. Go cold turkey on the switch after some months you’ll feel much better ... another website must have more about eating healthy for PC. Got to be a ton of books. Mike set me up with a plan the first week of my dx three years ago. I’m still on it. Helps if your partner is on the same plan.

I believe diet helps mitigate CV issues , diabetes, etc. which can result from PCa treatments and does nothing for cancer itself.

Agreed. I'm on a sugar pill now and watching my diet better hoping to drive the numbers down. At 140 at last visit. Now taking a pill.
