California what an amazing place.

Hi All

Thought I’d give a positive post on my journey. Over a year in and on Zytiga Pred and Zoladex I decided to fly from the U.K. with my sons to do a California road trip. What an amazing place, Venice beach, Malibu etc, wow wow wow. The sun, friendly people it was fantastic. I guess I’m trying to say when I was diagnosed Gleason 9 with mets that happiness and excitement and freedom could never be mine again, but it is possible to seize the moment when we can. Thanks to everyone on here for the advice and help it’s made me more confident and hopeful everyday. 👍

Nice photo most don't get to see the HOLLYWOOD sign from that perspective. I guess that speaks well for all of our struggles with this disease. It is hard to understand our perspective.

in reply tonoirhole

What perspective?? Upside down? That’s me half of the time. I have an original photo framed of this sign when it read weed on the end. So you know my California raised perspective is pro Marijuana. Not a regular user before dx but everyday since. Sorry for my misspelling.Sorry to all for that. I took my oil an hour ago .and for awhile

Your Head floats pretty good. Then it settles down and gives me a good feeling until nightfall and I do it again. For me it’s and improvement over being depressed and angry over my status. I am now appreciative and happier in

Life . Instead of what I would normally be like without the canabis in my system ; dwelling on meds, PSA, side effects and all the other BS that we all know too well. I have a couple assets but the cash ran out after no income for over 7yrs. Poverty line living is better than no living .My life almost ended 38 months ago, they gave me 36, so Whoo hoo every day is gravy for me. When I get close to the falls , I will paddle right off the edge and scream . “ Thank The powers above for everyday of my life on what has been up until now a great journey. “ some brutal unexpected twist for us all towards our final chapters. I believe we are not the author of life, just some lucky guys paddling down the APC river.

Great post Ant. I've done loads of travelling in my life, been to about 40 countries at last count. Lately, I've been concerned to venture too far from home in case something happens to me, while I'm away. I'm glad you had the courage to do this trip, you're an inspiration. Cheers Paul.

Hi Paul

Like you travel has always been an important part of my life and I am determined to continue this for as long as I can.

Both my Doctor and Oncolgist are very supportive and I am currently back on chemo and travelling for a week or two between the infusions.

They stock me up with a drug arsenal and are very happy to do a phone consult from overseas if I run into any trouble.

I have had to stop travelling to countries with lower quality health systems as I have been persuaded that the risks are too high but other than that it's all systems go.

Planning the trips and setting travel goals helps me keep positive and building more memories with my wife is great fun.

So I would say, have a chat to your medical team, hopefully they will be as supportive as mine.

Good luck and best wishes

Martin

LuLu it is a 2002 540i in mint condition I've been offered more than twice as much as I paid for it. The car is all original and looks like its new. I go out to my garage just to sit in it , not to mention the performance on the road. The car was on my bucket list now its mine.

Xtandi has given me my life back. Always wanted to see Canterbury Cathedral and Battle of Hastings field. Spent two terrific weeks in SE England. What an amazing place of western history, on time trains, beautiful gardens and friendly people. Lived in the States my whole life. Maybe I really should consider California for our next trip🙂
