Urologic Oncologist Recommendations for California, Nevada, and Washington? What about prescriptions?

I'm moving and after the move, due to home, work, and family, I will be frequently in Nevada (Reno and Las Vegas), California (Los Angeles and Bay Area), and less frequently in Washington state (Seattle area) so I could prefer to use an Oncologist in any of those areas. I'd be interested in recommendations for Oncologists, that are considered "up on their game" who have not confined themselves 100% to Standard Of Care (SOC) thinking by willing to sometimes go outside the SOC box with a blend of SOC and some moderately novel (data backed) approaches (like BAT, Advodart, etc for example.) No one at these 'membership only' clinics like Dr. Scholz where you pay a heft membership fee, or they don't take insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield in my case.) Also preferably someone who is not probably going to retire in the next 5 years.

Also, I'm unfamiliar with what (if any) are the limitations of doctors from one state prescribing medications to be picked up by the patient in another or using mail order for the most common drugs used in PCa treatment?

Some names that popped up on my radar so far (that I have no clue what their approaches are as far as going outside SOC) Looking for other recommendations or experiences with any of these guys?

I know Edwin Posadas - he is excellent. Also Tanya Dorff at COH. Nick Vogelzang retired but Idk anyone else in LV. I like Rahul Aggarwal at UCSF. Evan Yu at SCCA.

Your situation is pretty much what I'm aiming for at a minimum. It would be nice to have the equivalent of a Dr. Sartor as your local (in-state) MO. I am assuming there must be *some* hurdles, as far as an out-of-state MO prescribing treatment medications? Things could get sticky in that case if both MOs aren't willing to be on the same page.

I will go to Dr Rahul Aggarwal at UCSF. UCSF has many clinical trials and technologies for prostate cancer. To get an appointment with Dr. Small is practically impossible.

UCSF, UCLA & Stanford all have good people. UCSF & UCLA were both open to adventurous treatments and have new research going all the time. I'm currently working with a good local onco in Santa Rosa and seeing UCSF every few months.

Tanya Dorff, City of Hope. Great doc, world class credentials.

Rohit Bose of UCSF is excellent. He spends much of his time running a research lab, so he may be tougher to see. I've seen Dr Aggarwal's name on prescription authorizations, even if I have never actually met him, so I think they work as a team there. Their Speciality Pharmacy handles my prescriptions totally by mail, but I don't know if location matters.

There are several outstanding hospitals/institutions where you can get treatment. I have been going to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for a few years now. My doctor is Michael Schweizer. I really respect and trust him. He listens well and is very empathetic and has always answered by questions.

He is also a researcher and collaborates with other doctors around the country and within the excellent University of Washington medical group. SCCA is one of the most respected cancer care facilities in the US, not only on the West Coast. I live an hour and a half from there and have to face god-awful traffic to get there and back. I mostly do telemedicine visits when I can since Covid.

I am sure you can find excellent facilities and doctors in CA for sure, and probably in Oregon. I made the choice to go with a nationally recognized facility, on par with, from what I have seen, with Anderson and John Hopkins. I also tend to like those which are associated with major research and treatment hospitals where they have the most state of the art equipment and leading researchers/professors.

Good luck selecting the best one for you. I agree - it is a very important decision.
