The site needs a Potpourri section. As I too would love to share my experiences in life without taking away from the medical side of this wonderful site. Unless you all don’t mind me posting about my lawn mower rebuild. 👍

this site is about the “ whole “ person , ( not just the technical medical side ) and ultimately….if you think about it …. It’s all about QOL. If talking about your lawnmower makes you feel better and sharing it with us made others feel better, then share away. Speaking for myself ( and numerous others I’m sure ) it’s great to see someone ….croaking from stage4 PCa …… finding ways to improve their QOL experience in their waning time …it inspires us to try to do the same, it inspires me anyway. and in this concert trip, his adventures are great ( I can’t even walk from adt SEs ) I wish I could have done this, but it made me think of getting out on my e-trike and having some QOL time too …and I visited 3 different shopping centers on my etrike … next a trip to the Eton hike and bike trail . Might be a trip to the zoo pretty soon , if my lift still works.

There is only one guy doing cancer lifestyle threads right now, if you aren’t into croaker lifestyle posts , just don’t read them. Seems easy to me. Seriously. Still love ya brother

❤️❤️❤️

Mahalo Kaliber, esp after the trolls and ad hominem attacks, I wanted to show another side of f'in PCa that isn't Doom and Gloom. My trips elevates my mood and I wanna share that and hopefully does the same for y'all

Mahalo

right on brother … , surely…if done properly, like you are doing …. ( half the time , I end up inadvertently hi jacking threads improperly., which I’ve tried to cut back on ). Unless Darryl steps in and edits us, this feels perfectly right …. For exactly the reasons you stated.

❤️❤️❤️

Yea, we all can get off track of the original topic, but it's mostly All Good, cuz it's usually comedic, sarcastic or inane. Love it.

Of course, I'm infamous for posting music videos of whatever triggered it. Like this one is apropos for what I want my posts to accomplish: youtu.be/giB8gZ2L6hA

love it, he was on Colbert a week or two ago too.

Thanks.

I remember early on here on the forum Tom67 helping me understand that in order to do the things I used to do it's going to require taking a lot of breaks and good days bad days all part of it as he told of working on his car. So many including you brother and Randy help make it real but human, acceptable to the extent it can be.

Had some good QOL at the lake 5 minutes away this summer.

wharze your fishing pole ? Yayahahahaya. Looks beautiful… makes me think I might drive the one hour up to Kings Canyon National Park tomorrow, and visit Hume Lake. Kewl …

CAMPSOUPS in reply toKaliber

That it'd be Kewl.

Been all over everywhere in my life so even with minimal background in your trike pic the trees etc. I can imagine being there.

Missed Yosemite etc. by an inch a few times when in Fresno work trips.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toCAMPSOUPS

I’m only 50 miles from Kings Canyon, about the same to Yosemite ( you now need a reservation, just to enter the park ) and about 120 miles to the coast. Very centrally located.

I changed the trike picture to off-roading in the farm country near my house.

dockam in reply toCAMPSOUPS

Yea, I remember Tom :-(, we chatted about doing a run together in the future.

I do my trips for us suffering from the accursed side effects of the meds, getting out esp in the sun lifts depression, and so does changing venue and going somewhere different. Plus, I'm a Crazy Type A Azn, and wanna keep my hiking streak going

Good for you Brother to get out

Right on.

Remind me, what are we doing all of this shit for anyway? I like having hobbies other than prostate cancer and it's ok to share them here.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toEdBacon

well yea ……. We’re body AND mind … all humans are. Most everyone here are stage4 croakers, it’s what the group is supposed to be all about isn’t it. T_A especially but all the medical brains here , together, take care of the complex medical ( body ) side extremely well. There’s still the mind / soul part. “ ALL “ Stage 4 croakers are told by their palliative crew to “ get our financial affairs in order , gather our loved ones and try to concentrate on having our best QOL in our remaining time. “ . When I visit my oncologist, all we ever talk about is “ how am I doing with my QOL, business affairs and family. No point in talking about much else. That’s the name of that tune.

QOL lifestyle posts , here, ……just like you say, are and should be about having a QOL experience, not solely about the drudgery side of terminal cancer. All of the lifestyle posts should kinda lift the gloom and doom and encourage- excite the rest of …. prod us so to speak, to go out and raise our own QOL while we are able and to the extent we are able.

For example , Im going up to Kings Canyon National Park in a couple hours ( 45 minute drive from here ) , based on Campsoups earlier posts. Going out and trying to enjoy life a little is good medicine for all of us. Sharing some of it on the groups both let’s us vent and try to encourage others to elevate their QOL in the process.

Dunno ….maybe I’m wrong …maybe Darryl, like some others here want , maybe Darryl wants to keep the group purely technical medical and not have uplifting lifestyle posts , not sure. Seems like he’d want the group to cover all aspects of our illness . Surely that’s a goldmine for mental / SEs cancer research……

I like what dockam is doing …. You can live vicariously thru him and his exploits encourage me to get off my couch and get out there and do more things too. It’s now or never ….pretty much.

Just say’in

Drive safe and enjoy man! Same goes for the trike. Looks like a rocket ready for take off on that farmland lol.

Squeezing out some QOL here in the twin cities with above average temps before winter arrives.

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply toCAMPSOUPS

I’m getting ready to go as I write this yayahahahaya.

Yea , like a Tesla , that electric e-trike has huge low end torque and will throw out rooster tails when in the dirt accelerating. Yayahahahaya it would do 30mph if un throttled, but I have to keep it set to 18mph , max, because of California e-bike / e-trike regulations.

Twin cities ….omg …. You need to pack up and head south for a few months , til winter clears. Where I’m going today has mega winters but I just drive back down here where it’s always warm , year round. Yayahahahaya

Perfect I say. Cant beat that.

Reminds me of the "perfect" location when I lived in Japan.

Yokohama--30 minutes or so

High in the mountains to cool off in the summer---45 minutes

Ocean-------30 minutes

Kaliber in reply toCAMPSOUPS

I’m glad you’re guys got me stoked to get up off my couch , lose the Debbie downer, and get up and do some QOL stuff. The park was filled with German and Japanese visitors’ tour busses, and it’s in my back yard and I get in free yayahahahaya. Very easy fairly short drive from Fresno. Thanks buddies … didn’t think about “ anything / stuff “ for hours, still upbeat too, couple hours after I got back . Gonna practice loading up the scooter and scout out ( to see if it’s still heavily overloaded with summer visitors ) the zoo as well. Daytime temps are moderating, time to get a go’in.

Good morning Kaliber,

Mahalo for the mention 💙

Different strokes, for different folks. I've always been a very positive, glass 1/2 full kinda guy and I wanna share my jaunts to show that I'm not totally consumed with the #stagivpca and the dang side effects. A huge plus that I never thought of, was that those trips would inspire others to get out and enjoy the world.

That's such a great ripple from my posts for all of us on HU, to "just do it"

In a blog post a few years ago, I stated that I thought that we all live in a huge pond, and I wanted to make ripples that emanate out and impact others :

Yea, Elton came to Hawaii in like 1974, and I saw him then.

Didn't have cell phone cameras then so no vids of it :-)

I wanna have y'all on HU join me in my jaunts via the Google Photos album as I Carpe dang Diem

Fight on
