I’ve posted before about my dad. He’s 72 with stage 4 and has exhausted all the “routine” options. We had a consult with Dr. Lam from Dr. Scholz’s practice in Marina Del Ray. He had some suggestions. One suggestion might be to try Keytruda. My dad’s MO is more like a general practitioner and knows very little about new drugs (or much else). Does anyone have a recommendation for a great MO in the Gulf Coast area specifically Pensacola?

Oncologist Rec-Florida.
Dr Oliver Sartor is in New Orleans, He is excellent.
I also go to Dr Scholz office and I know Dr Lam. They are on top of all the latest and do nothing but prostate oncology. Find a local guy that will implement their advice is my best advise. And stay in contact with Lam for continuing recommendations.
“Human body is a miracle. Male Testosterone is made in the testicles. I do not recommend seeking to outsmart the human body“ By this statement do you mean you do not suggest using Lupron?
OK, I researched it a bit. Some wild sounding claims about a macro-biotic diet but maybe there's something to it? I wouldn't bet my life on it to the exclusion of conventional medical treatments.
I live in Pensacola, and am Stage IVa which means mets to local lymph nodes but nothing major elsewhere. I have been on treatments including Eligard and Trelstar for all but a few months of my 6.5 years of treatment. When I was put on a "drug vacation" my PSA went from <0.01 to 2.3 then 12.? which scared me and one of my oncologists at the time, Since then, <0.1 on every test. I moved to Pensacola and started going to Woodlands clinic on N. Davis Hwy. They recently opened a so-called Advanced Prostate Center and I got a new Urologist, and a new Oncologist. The Urologist is Dr. Maurice Bouchard. I like him. The Oncologist is an unknown for me since they changed me (again) to a new APC oncologist. But they do seem to be up on therapies and do scans and bloodwork pretty often.
So if you live in or near Pensacola, give them a try. Get an appointment with Dr. Bouchard. Tell him (or the nurses) that Marshall Williams referred you to them. Let me know how it turns out. Post a reply here. Good luck and God bless.
