Camino de Santiago (French Way)

Hi Folks

Seriously thinking of Camino in August / September of this year. I will be nearly 1 year since diagnosis in September. I harbour a niggling fear about fatigue and whether I will be able to make it. Anyone else done the Camino after starting ADT?

Why not proceed with planning and buy good trip cancellation insurance?

Right on Jimbob. I was in Santiago last summer. You will be able to catch a bus to the next town if you have trouble, along the way. Make sure you do some long term walking at home before you go to get ready. This is such a great thing to do. Be sure to watch the movie “The Way” before you go , I think it is on netflix, or even utube.

There are buses and taxis ready to help people along. Lots of massive blisters, twisted ankles (for those who venture off trail) and couples who spent a happy sleepless night taking taxis and bus. No worries. Youll feel worse not to go

Only way I'd do the Camino is in my classic Chevy El Camino.

Everyone suffers side effects in different ways. I am a big traveler too and was worried after I was diagnosed. It's now been two and a half years since starting Lupron and going through open RP and 39 radiation treatments and my list of travel locations continues to grow. I have been to Australia and New Zealand, Alaska, Puerto Vallarta, and I just got back from Norway...plus a number of long weekends away. So I say, don't hesitate. Live your life. You may need to hike a bit less, take a few less stairs, use a Uber rather than walking...but I find that it's helpful to me mentally to have something to plan for and look forward to.

Not what you're looking for?
