Nephrostamy tubes for Christmas

I was just blessed with two nephrostamy tubes over the holidays . Just curious if anybody has some advise on how to sleep. Thank you in advance.

Hi, my husband had the Nephrostomy tubes for six months. He had a tumor that grew up,from the prostrate and blocked the kidney tubes. Weeks of radiation and months of chemo were able to shrink the tumor.finally the tubes were removed. Well, to answer your question he kind of slept half sitting up. It's not easy but he did get used to the tubes.i there were times though through the night he was ab,e to sleep flat. Good luck, wishing you well.

You are the first to mention having neauphostmy tubes in the yr I.ve read this cite. I had them for over a yr as ADT & Radiation shank the tumors blocking my urethra.at about a yr I had stents put in as well as part of the plan to ween me off of the neauphostmy tubes..I had continuous UTI’s for the entire period. Your question about sleeping. Take 20 mg melatonin , and 5mg naltrexone before bed as well as medical Mary RSO or canaby oil. I’m still trying to regain strength balance and endurance that I lost while in a semi ambulatory state for a yr and a half. Warned not to lift more than 10 pounds. Tubes had to be changed every 3 months as well as stents. Hope that you don’t have these too long ..Although 1 day is too long. I also had a foley the entire time. One does not know what this entails until you experience it. Trying to find any comfort day or night was near impossible.. Definately could not have done it without incredible help from my wife. I was able to half way sleep on my side with pillows between my knees .. until the bags fill up. use much caution twice pulled tubes accidentally and reqired immediate replacement surgery.. not fun .once the garage door caught a tube the other was caught on my car seat belt as I got out. So don’t do that. I’m grateful to talk to you because you are the first that I.ve seen to have the tubes as I did.. Boy i can relate.. I feel you... Hang in there.. you should have a plan to get the tubes off. Any questions ? Let me know? The Christmas present( Although hard to see during pain) is that you are still here and alive.. We need a strong will to live if we are to survive with Pc and endure treatments.. You can get to a better place. A lot of prayer..

Wow, I don't know how you got through all of that. I was treated in Oct '16 and thought I was doing fine until I had to go to the ER for a retention problem the middle of December. I am wearing a foley catheter now and will be at least until Jan 25th when I will finally get a cystoscopy to investigate what is going on. I have to admit to being afraid of what might be found. My recent PSA reading came back undetectable ... and then this? What the heck is going on? The urologist didn't venture any theories, just that he would perform this test. Did you manage to keep a positive state of mind, or did you need an antidepressant?

No I just keep my head up. All is better then the alternative.

I could have used antidepressents back then. But I preferred not to add more chemicals to my blend of herbs and spices. Canaby oil helps me with moods and appetite.In order to eat a lot of vegetables.Having foley & tubes and not being able pee for that year and a half took a lot out of me.. My prayer is for anyone in that condition to get out ASAP.. A lot of prayers..

Thank you for your reply. My experience has been about the same as you. Sleep mainly in my recliner. Use oil but no melitinin.
