Night sweats after RP

Hi

I am here for my 54 years old husband

He was dx in august 2017 . Psa 12

On one side all the cores was positif. Gl 3+5=8

6 weeks used casodex and then davinci RP oct 17,2017

Pathology show 4 lymph node positiveand positive margine.

Now he is having bad night sweats in the chest and neck area ( changing his cloths 3 times a night) coughing and lost 2kg weight and his color dont look healthy. I wonder if this is because cancer spread tothe lungs.

The dr says his body is not strong right now so the flue is severe. But i am worried alot.

Did anyone had an experience like this after RP?

I was thinking he will be as healthy looking as before after RP but this is not the case so far...

Thanks in advance

PS: forgive for the mistakes we live in a different country where english is not native language

Happy to have you join our group. I did not experience these symptoms due to RP. I have them due to ADT therapy (in my case Lupron).

My assumption is that this is the cause of his night sweats and hot flashes, it if others have had this with RP, I’m sure they will respond.

It’s very common for PCa patients on hormone therapy. As unpleasant as it it, someone on this forum reminded me that 99.5% of the time our bodies are managing our internal thermostat properly - we just need a little help with the last 0.5%.

There are a lot of options to help address this. I take a medication called Gabapentin. It reduces 3/4 if my symptoms. I live with the rest. Others take other medications, use Accupuncture, or take various supplements. I’d recommend speaking to your doctor about this. And I’m sure others will respond to your post.

Best of luck to you and your husband on your journey. Your husband is fortunate to has such a concerned partner!

Happy Holidays!

James

PS - your English is excellent!😊

I had night sweats for six weeks after surgery. I was convinced it was my body clearing anesthesia.

I hope that is the reason.

Thanks

Hi

I too suspect the flashes are related to hormone therapy. Acupuncture reduced them from 10 or more a day to 5 a week.

Thank you so much.

It is common when having hormone therapy but He is only using LIFTA since 3 weeks after the RP.

Hi there.

My husband didn't have rp, but has certainly experiencing night sweats and sweats in neck and hear area all the time regardless of which treatment he was on (Chemo, Zytiga, anti-hormone). The immune system is just so compromised, my guess would be, that the system is fighting all the time; and particularly when there is a cold or the flew. Maybe discuss it with your doctor and maybe they can do an xray of the chest?

Mel.

See his doctor as soon as possible and ask for body CT scan.

Good Luck and Good Health.

Dear john,

We went to a (not our urologist and yet we dont have Oncologist) internal specialist for he had cough, night seeats, saliva etc. he has taken xray and said it is not related to PCa

Gave us antibiotics and he is better since the next day he is using the medication. Do you still think itcould be related?

to Kamilekamile

I don't know the answer to that question, but if I knew I would be vacationing on the beach in the Bahamas with all of the other doctors.

All Kidding aside, get your husband to a GOOD Oncologist asap. Tell us in what country you are located because that helps sometimes with the advice you may find here.

Good Luck and Good Health.

Get his testosterone level tested.

Mine is very low and I’ve been getting night sweats for some years now.

The only cure is to get a 4ml depotestosterone injection every 21 days.

Have gone to a endicronologist for treatment to see why it is low but the verdict is this is a mechanical result from the prostatectomy.

Thank you for your reply.

It has been better now but he still has it.

His T level was around 400.

Best
