Metastasized to adrenal glands.

SaratogaNYAnthony profile image

My biopsy came back being positive in the adrenal glands. My oncologist now says I'm ineligible for clinical trials. What to do next? We have tried all standard treatments.

I'm sorry to hear you're running out of options.

If your oncologist says you're ineligible for clinical trials, he probably knows what he's talking about but you can try looking for them yourself at

clinicaltrials.gov/

or

cancer.gov/about-cancer/tre...

Figuring out the applicability of clinical trials can be very difficult and it requires a lot of persistence and often more knowledge than most patients have. Usually, the trial sponsors are looking for a specific kind of patient who is ideal for the testing they plan to do, and the inclusion and exclusion criteria can be highly technical.

If you let us know more about your situation - age, PSA, Gleason, the treatments you've already tried, someone might think of something worth trying.

Max,

Can you point us to the copy of the German study? Is it available in English? As you know, there are tons of fake medical cures with made up studies bruited about on the Internet, so I'd like to see more info on the original source of this claim.

Can you give us any details of your own cure? When did it occur? What was your PSA and Gleason before surgery? What was it before you began the 4-mu treatment? How quickly did it work?

Thanks.

Alan

Hi Max this is very interesting. I have gone on a plant based diet like you, PSA continued to rise after RP and IMRT and I started ADT in March. Plant based diet has been good for overall health but I have seen no evidence that it is slowing down PCa so I am iterested in the medications that are working for you. Ar the moment scans show one tumoir only, in the pelvic region, and I would be very happy if I can limit the spread of PCa beyond this.

I would like to echo Alan's request for more details but would also be interested to know if you are using any other supplements?

I'm glad that this isnworking for you and hope that it continues to do so for many years.

Regards, Hazard

I just found 4MU for sale on line (moncoinsante). And the pills contain wheat starch - as a coeliac, these are off limit for me lol.

Hi Anthony,

I am sorry about your diagnosis and you may need to know about cancer in the adrenal medulla. There is a cancer called pheochromocytoma (adrenal cancer) that I learned about in pharmacy college. Adrenaline is composed of epinephrine and nor-epinephrine and are both given out from the adrenal medullas when you are in fear. Epinephrine is usually 70% adrenaline. But when cancer is present the percentage changes to 90% nor-epinephrine. This makes the patient nervous, high blood pressure, sweaty, and irritable. So there is a drug called Regitine that can stop these symptoms. Regitine is given for when the adrenal gland is touched by a surgeon's scalpel. It stops large amounts of nor-epinephrine from killing the patient in surgery and is used in recovery until the adrenaline is normal again. I do not know if this has anything to do with you, but this is just for your knowledge only. This is a very uncommon disease and I have never heard of anyone having it, but this a crazy disease.
