This is another example of people throwing stuff (there is a stronger word, but I won't use it here) against a wall (us?) to see if it sticks. Really, what are we to make of this conclusion?

"Low doses of TPL block the proliferation of CRPC cells in vitro. (A) LNCaP cells were treated with 6.25 nM TPL for 1 h before the addition of R1881 (1 nM) for 3 days. Cell viability was measured by MTT. (B) Number of colonies formed by CRPC cells (22Rv1 and C4-2) following incubation with different concentrations of TPL. (C) C4-2/Luci and C4-2/AR-V7 cells were treated with different concentrations of TPL for 4 days. Cell viability was measured by MTT. (D) Number of colonies formed by C4-2/Luci and C4-2/AR-V7 cells after treatment with TPL. (E) C4-2/Luci and C4-2/AR-V7 cells were cultured in 8% CSS 1640 medium for 24 h, followed by treatment with 6.25 nM TPL or 20 μM enzalutamide for 72 h. PSA was then detected by ELISA. The results are represented as means ±SD of 3 experiments. *, p < 0.05; **, p < 0.01; ***, p < 0.001."

I understand that we are all intelligent people responsible for our own care. However, to me, it is irresponsible to give us this kind of information which most of us are incapable of using. Not all of us are retired research chemists. Articles like the one cited just get us excited and running around in circles.

--This plant appears to inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme, which is known to metabolize a great deal of drugs

--It should be noted that this plant has a very low therapeutic index (difference between the effective dose and the toxic dose) and that overdosing is both easy to do and critical; supplementation is usually avoided for this reason.

Yeah, I have a bottle but I'm thinking about the circular file. It's too risky.
