One fact from the above abstract is that PCa is one hell of an enemy. Every drug you throw at it eventually fails and the PCa comes back in a form more aggressive than before. There is no cure and there is not even a cure on the horizon. What the new drugs do is treat the metamorphosis that resulted from the failure of the previous drug. The new drugs in the pipeline are referred to as third line anti-androgen therapy. Yet, one misguided poster here threatens to leave the site if we don't buy his BS that PCa, is just a chronic disease, and tells people they have decades of survival left with metastatic PCa. Tell that to our old buddy CancerSucks who is looking down on us now. CS failed chemo and xtandi/zytiga in 6 months and never looked at PCa through rose colored glasses. The fact is mcrPCa is a killer and if you want to liver don't take you eye off the ball. Like the General George Patton said No You Enemy.

So CS had chemo along with combination of xtandi/Zytiga. When did he take the chemo - at diagnosis or later , if you know. Also, was CS in Vietnam and might have been in contact with Agent Orange? I notice that if a guy had been in contact with Agent Orange, then the medications we have does not help that patient. Only my opinion from reading the posts here.

Why are you such an angry man? (I'm assuming your a male) You seem like an intelligent person. Maybe you might consider channeling your energy towards positive venues. I'm guessing the misguided poster your referring to was a guy named namesless99 or something like that. When i joined this group a week ago the person who went by nameless spent a lot of time with me giving me hope for the future. I don't recall him ever telling me that stage 4 prostate cancer is a chronic disease, would you be kind enough to point me to a post where he said it is please? Thank you sir.

Fighting this beast with everything you have and having hope for the future are not mutually exclusive. We need to have hope, I don't really care whether some people think it's "unrealistic". I'm not going to sit around moping about a future where my cancer will eventually progress to the point it kills me. Quite frankly, I tried that for about 5 minutes. That was enough for me. As soon as you do that, you are already dead because you've given up. You've stopped living when you can no longer have hope. Go ahead and call me unrealistic, but personally I'd rather die with hope than be walking dead.

We all need to have hope that someday a cure will be found. But here's the cure that I've already found: don't let the cancer take the life you have away from you.

Right on Gregg! Hope is everything. “If we are worried about dying, we can not live any more” And incedently being in my second decade after stage 4 dx, it has been like a chronic disease.

It sounds like you are angry right now and I completely understand that. But we know what is going on so will not react in a negative way. We are your friends and trying to help.

And no, I don't know more than an oncologist. Just trying to understand what I'm up against. I am here to learn, not to "be right". If anything I say in my posts is incorrect, please feel free to correct me and cite sources so we can all be enlightened.

Yes, that is sooo true. You can never give up hope. And even if there will never be an absolute, complete, cure, there is still the thing that we can delay and delay the end with all the different drugs out there either alone or in combination with other drugs.

Dan57 told me that he was resistant to both Xtandi and Zytiga, but tried taking them together and was able to get one year out of the combination.
