Xtandi nausea gone. Indicator of resistance?

I’ve been on Xtandi 5 months and instead of PSA going down it just doubled to 8. Oncologist says don’t worry until we get another reading in June. Every time I swallow those 4 big pills I get nauseous for a half hour. That has disappeared. I’m wondering if no more nausea is another sign that I’ve become resistant..

Bob, I had never heard of nasuea being gone as a sign of resistance, Possibly body just tolerating better.Sometimes it will go up and back down, might be advisable to get another psa in May, just to confirm. How is everything else going?

Hi Dan, just had an MRI due to pain in hip and they discovered mets in left pelvic bone and surrounding muscle. I’ll be starting radiation at Sloan Kettering in 2 weeks. I was doing great last 3 years with my stage 4 Gleason 10 aPc going thru casodex 3 months, zytiga 8 months and now Xtandi 5 months. I was supposed to retire driving my 18 wheeler last 30 years in June but I’m hanging it up and retiring early in 3 more days and also applying for disability. I’m a little worried that I’m becoming CR to the last 2d line drug. Still on Lupron. Thanks for asking Dan. It feels good to tell someone what’s going on who knows about this stuff. I won’t be back at Sloan Kettering until May 2

Hi Bob, I am glad you will be treated at such a good center as MSKCC. It is always anxiety about being castrate resistant every time we get a psa test on these therapies, I will hope the next one is lower. How do the know what they saw is in fact related to Prostate Cancer? I know it is hard to give up the work we love, it was the same for me. I think you made the right move. Will be waiting to hear from you.

IMO a doubling of PSA to 8 after 5 months means Xtandi resistance if the reading is correct
