Has anyone experienced high serum calcium and sodium levels with metastatic cancer? I have seen a link between hypercalcemia and skeletal metastases and neuroendocrine cancer but not with hypernatremia and cancer. Being treated for both.

Hypercalcemia and hypernatremia in advanced prostate cancer
Hypernatremia - A water imbalance with the sodium levels in the body.
It is usually considered a general problem in elderly patients (pretty much any serious illness), but it also might be related to the existence of tumors. Given that many prostate cancer patients are older and the men with advanced prostate cancer have tumors, I would venture to say there might be some relationship. However, what is really important is that you receive good treatment because hypernatremia an be serious.

Hi Joel,
Age of 45, so that is not a factor. More concerned with the calcium level. I have read this is a poor prognostic factor in high volume cancers. So far, only innumerable bone mets with initial retro perineal and distant lymph node mets. Wondering if there are viseral mets now if electrolyte imbalances are present now.
